I was pretty excited about going to the outdoor pool/water park this past weekend. Never never again. Reasons:
1)It was very hot out. We were on a super slow line for over about 40 minutes under direct sun to get in. 2)Don't plan on eating there..at all. Only about 8 people in front of us. An hour and 10 minute wait in the hot sun on a line that literally didn't move. Nearly had heat stroke from that. If I ate before I came, I would have never waited that long. They won't let you bring in your own food. 3)The nachos - literally handed me a small bag of Tostitos and a little cup of cheese. The pretzels were hard as a rock. Burnt hamburger. Waited all that time for that. 4)The slides- dont bother. Both the tube and non-tube slide line dumps put into the same area. One can go at a time and they have to watch each one clear first. They alternate between lines. You are up there forever. Moves at a snail place. People were not patient on line. Adults bullying kids and letting their kids cut other kids in line.
Thus, most of the day dealt with hungry kids and heat exhaustion while on line. So...
Read moreAs a parent of a 12-year-old who is passionate about pickleball and plays at an advanced level, I’m incredibly disappointed with how the Troy Community Center treats youth players. Despite having a membership and consistently demonstrating skill equal to adult players, my son was recently told he can no longer attend open play sessions—simply because of his age.
Previously, the center had “all ages” time slots, which were then quietly reduced and eventually removed entirely. Now, even when courts are short a player and he’s clearly contributing to the game, he’s turned away. It’s frustrating that instead of encouraging athletic youth in a supervised, constructive environment, the management chooses to block participation.
We tried speaking with the Recreation Director, but unfortunately, there seems to be little interest in creating youth-friendly solutions or supporting young athletes. For a public recreation facility, this kind of gatekeeping sends the wrong message: youth are not welcome here.
If you’re a parent hoping to find a place for your child to grow in sports,...
Read more3rd time attending TCC, each time I have been charged a different amount. The latest entry fee was $9 and that's the most I have ever paid for a couple games of basketball. The basketballs they provide are either women's or seriously warn men's. In the middle of a game The staff decided to interrupt us to raise 1 of the hoops 1-2 inches at most. Then the maintenance man came in to yell at some 15 year old climbing on the useless volleyball polls in the corner because the staff is too lazy to put them away. Just all around unprofessional and most of the staff is very young and it shows on how the place is ran. A very large portion of TCC profits come from the overpriced entry fee people pay to play basketball so my suggestion would be to let us...
