We came here several years ago and did a dracula (or maybe a mummy?) room. I remembered enjoying it, so I booked this one for my husband's birthday this week. We did 20,000 leagues under the sea, and man, it was frustrating.
The very first key that we got opened two boxes, but it turns out that it was only supposed to open one and the other box just hadn't been properly locked. Our game master didn't catch what happened so we spent the first chunk of our time trying to use clues that didn't fit with that part of the game. At that point we finally asked if we were even supposed to have these clues yet and then we had to back track and figure out what had come out of the box and put it back.
He added some extra time for us, but the damage was already done. We'd lost what was supposed to get the whole escape room going and having to add time and not having an accurate representation of how well we were doing was frustrating and took away the competitive part of playing.
Then the button lights on a clue didn't work and they had to come in and try and activate them for us. And another clue had letter codes that were backwards that shouldn't have been. Another had half the correct numbers already on the padlock because it hadn't been reset completely before we started playing. Another clue was completely faded/wiped off and almost unreadable. And we were given like 6 pencils and one tiny piece of paper that the very first code took all of. What were the other pencils for? We couldn't work on two puzzles at once because there was just one tiny paper to share.
So two big issues that I see here: 1- I don't think it was reset properly for us to begin our escape (the box not clicked locked so the wrong key worked on it, not enough paper, the correct numbers left on padlocks). There were multiple people just sitting around up front. Someone could've and should've prepared our room better for us. 2- It needs an update/refresh. (Sharpie puzzle was fading, light code didn't work, and it sounded like puzzles we didn't complete at the end had issues from being broken or old too.)
And our clue giver didn't even know how the remaining puzzles in the game worked when he came in to get us and talk about it.
We love escape rooms. We've done tons of them. And I know this was a 10/10 difficulty, but the difficulty shouldn't have been that things just didn't work properly or weren't set properly. It is soooo much money for things to not work well. We splurge on these once or twice a year and pay for babysitters too. It's just super disappointing to look forward to it, and spend so much money for it to be such a frustrating escape room.
I get that there are issues sometimes but so many just takes away the experience from it. I know it's supposed to just be fun. But it wasn't. 😬
Maybe the other rooms work better? It sounded like our clue giver was new or not very experienced, so maybe it won't be a similar experience coming for a different room. But we will most likely pick another place completely next...
Read moreThis was my first escape room experience and it was a blast! From the start, the staff were very courteous and helped us start off with some minor paperwork. The informational video was fun, and the transitional room helped set the stage. Then, off into our selected room experience, my group enjoyed all the creative decor and ambiance!
Our group coordinator, Crow, was exceptional in leading us from start to finish. They were very friendly, easygoing, nonjudgmental, and super helpful whenever we asked for tips and help.
The room's puzzles themselves were interesting and fun to complete. They weren't so detailed and nuanced that they'd take us ages to figure out. But they made sense and could be completed relatively quickly once we knew how to address them. When we got stuck on certain parts, or were uncertain about some keys, Crow was able to give us the proper hints and steer us in the right direction. Being on casual mode, we could have and should have utilized more hints, but we were having fun trying to figure things out on our own too.
In the end, we weren't able to complete the room. But having selected the deep sea adventure rated at the highest difficulty, our guide said we actually made it about 70% through which is awesome!
At about $34/person for 5 people, the price is pretty reasonable. I'm not sure if they have any specials, but it'd be neat to see discounts come in to take advantage of. There are some escape rooms in Vegas for just a little more around $40, so pricing a bit cheaper like in $20's some days would make it an easy sell for my group to pick up.
Altogether, this was a great first experience that I look forward to doing again! I love that there's a good variety of room options at this location and hope do another one...
Read moreI went with a group of friends to celebrate our friend's birthday, and we had an amazing time doing the Sherlock Holmes escape room! We escaped with 45 seconds left. Our guide, Milo, was amazing and super funny. We played the narrative (easier) version, so we had unlimited clues - it was really funny to me that we kept addressing the cameras (or honestly just the ceiling) in the room, asking about a part where we were stuck, and then there'd be this chorus from all of us of "thank you Milo". He usually gave hints in the form of jokes too, which kept the energy in the room great even when it could have become stressful due to the time crunch. He made the experience so much better, and the room was already a great time by itself! I've never done an escape room before, but I would definitely come back...
