If you are in need of a pair of running shoes, I recommend going to the Dallas Running Company store instead of Luke's Locker. I Do not recommend Luke's Locker shoe store to anyone! Because of a bad experience at this store I got a blister on my foot (not once but twice!) while training for the NYC marathon. Salesperson Sean did not go over proper way to tie my newshoes during my first visit to the store to purchase my shoes. He also failed to go over proper socks to wear, how to properly break in the shoes, and did not go over proper shoe care. After my first visit to the store to purchase the shoes I called the store about my blister and the Salesperson who answered the phone asked me if the Salesperson showed me the "runners loop". I said he had me run around the store if that's what she meant. She suggested I come back to the store. I explained that was not what I wanted to do and asked to have the manager/owner call me. After speaking to store manager/owner Matt Lucas and explaining to him I was not explained the runners loop, at the store managers suggestion and after the blister came back again after my second run in the shoes I decided to go back to the store. During the second visit, Salesperson Sean proactively said he told me during my first visit how to tie the shoes which he did not do and then when I told him he didn't he proceeded to argue with me. He explained to me I might need thicker socks. I showed him my socks during my first visit and he said nothing about this. Then he proceeded to try to get me to buy a new pair of socks after I had just spent well over 200 on shoes and compression sleeves. On the way home I called the owner/manager and left a message for him to call me back. I explained all of this to him. He did not take any ownership for my bad experience or for the fact that I had to make 2 trips to the store, or my blister. He asked me what I wanted him to do about it. My feelings were if he's the owner he should know what to do. He should offer a gift card another gesture for the not only the bad experience but the time and gas I had to spend making 2 trips to the store. Needless to say I will not go back to this store. Spare yourself the same miserable experience I had which remains unresolved. Go to Dallas Running Company or Ft Worth Running Company instead. Read moreIf you’re typically just a walker like me, I urge you to run (just this once) to Luke’s Locker in Dallas.
From the moment I stepped inside, I was struck by the energy—there was an immediately uplifting atmosphere, from the song selection to the displays. It felt like a real community of employees ensuring your satisfaction. Not just the racks of high-performance running shoes or the athletic gear, but the people. Here, they care so much more.
It’s personal here, and from my experience at the store, no one embodies that more than Mr. Harman Pope.
Let me talk about Harman for a moment.
Harman started by scanning my feet, urging me to reconsider my overestimated shoe size. I soon discovered more about myself than ever before. But he does more than just fit you for shoes—he coaches you.
He’s a listener first—he asked me about my current experience, desires, and running goals. I later learned that he is quite a runner himself—with a record of 4:29 in the mile. Using this information, he immediately decides what's right for YOU.
But second, he's an encyclopedia of brands—he knew each of the brands sold to the store down to the smallest detail. He explained drop height and its impact on shoe feel. He carefully took note of my comments, bringing out not one, not two, but THREE incredible pairs of shoes for me to try on. From there, he even tied the shoes for me. Incredible service!
Harman's attention to detail? Unreal. Whether you’re training for your next marathon or trying to get into a routine, ask for Harman. Trust me. He made me feel like an elite athlete, even though my primary motivation for running is chasing after the elusive ice cream truck and Strava kudos.
All in all, Luke’s Locker has surprised me as likely the best establishment I have visited all year. It's the kind of place that reminds you why large companies can never beat the comfortable aura of a local business. And employees like Harman Pope? He just makes me feel hyper about running.
Five stars. Zero Regrets. It's a...
Read moreI'm not one of those who goes out of thier way to post negative reviews but my experience there today bothered me and push me to do so. First, they DO have a great selection of shoes, in many colors, brands and fits it seems. However, today we walked in around 2pm ( tax free weekend) on a Sunday, so it was understandably busy. Waiting wasn't a issue as I looked around while my wife kept watch for an avaliable sales associate. About 20 minutes in I went to the front desk to make sure there wasn't a waiting list of some sorts, to follow any protocol I've might of missed out on. There wasn't and I kept browsing remiang patient. There seemed to be 6 sales associates and we could not discern them from the shoppers as they were wearing no ID or shirts or anything, letting you know they were a sales person/ employee of the store. So I continued browsing for about 10 minutes and my wife ( who isnt vocal at all) called out to one sales associate as he was free. She went so far as to tap him on the shoulder but he BLATANTLY ignored her and moved towards another person. That isn't ok .....anywhere....and I don't know if it's because we don't fit the " profile" of thier regular customers but no one ANYWHERE should have to BEG for assistance.I immediately told my wife that it was obvious they were not interested in helping us here and left. Its awful for a store not only to ignore you but FEEL IGNORED and beneath your other customers. It's also terrible because we have heard good things about the store online and from others. Do better lukes lockeroom. Sincerly someone who dosent live in Highland park or...
