Along with just general enjoyment, the Laura W. Bush Native Texas Park is an laboratory of learning about nature! So many of our children don't know the names of our native plants, and they're really missing out on an important connection with the natural world. Go here and show them! The park is loaded with an astounding variety of native wildflowers, grasses, trees and shrubs--free for the viewing. Although Spring is definitely the most beautiful time, there are interesting things to see throughout the seasons if you take the time to look. The park re-creates different ecological areas common in Texas--Tallgrass prairie, Savanna and Woodland, etc. They also have implemented a unique system of re-using rainwater run-off that keeps it all onsite rather than entering city sewers. You can download a family scavenger hunt and a self-guided tour from the website, too. This park is a wonderful gift to the community!

Beautiful trail with lots of preservation at SMU. They also have library and museum all about George Bush and the family. Books off all kinds..autobiographies and cook books and even some really cool leather made goods that are also Inside of President Bushs home. They have baseball Bats and even re creations of the bill Of rights in all sizes. Shirts and coffee mugs and they do tours as well. There is also a wonderful cafe called cafe 43 they are open 11-2 and it has salads and sandwiches and much more on the menu. Seen some bunnies and bees 🐝 pollinating at the pollination stations they have set around. Definitely worth it!!

Awesome in the spring with beautiful flowers and trails! The park has native north Texas plants and gives an idea of what north Texas used to be like back before all of the development. It has trails all around the Bush Presidential Center. An auditorium is great for groups to have classroom discussions. The grounds are watered with a reservoir system that collects and naturally filters rain water to then be used to irrigate.

Texas Native Park is FREE, open during daylight. It is part of George W. Bush Library/Museum center and borders SMU. Basically NO free parking that I could find - so paid parking lot just north of the library&Moody (SMU)parking garage 2 blocks west. Restroom are available in library/museum but you MUST go through security to access restrooms. There are a few plant id signs but only at the north end of park/close by building. There are plenty of benches, level pathways - minimal steps. Pathways are wood chips or gravel. You can access the museum shop &the 43 Cafe without having to go through security or through the museum. You may bring your dog to the park, but you MUST pick up after your dog. Please realize this park is within city of Dallas - Highway 75 is right next to park - you WILL HEAR highway traffic. If you can NOT block out that traffic noise then wear headset...
