I went here for the first time today and I loved it! I took my daughter for lunch--she's 4, so it's not always easy to wrangle her in a restaurant. But this place was great--seating and service was almost immediate, even though it was lunchtime on Saturday. Our server was very attentive and friendly with us. The noise level was low, the place was really clean and well decorated with great natural light.

My daughter had a classic grilled cheese and we shared a chocolate malt shake. I had the jalapeno popper grilled cheese. I could only finish half of mine because it was pretty rich. It was a tad on the sweet side for me, I was hoping it would be spicier, but it was still delicious. My daughter ate her whole sandwich and loved it. The milkshake was delicious and it was the perfect size. The server even brought a little plastic cup so she could take what was leftover of the shake while we walked around Mockingbird station.

The prices were reasonable overall. The shake was on the expensive side ($5), IMO. But if you're going to drink a milkshake, it should be a really, really good milkshake, and this one was. It was a perfect treat to share. Her sandwich was very cheap at $3--mine was pricier at $12, but I'm also getting two meals out of it so I can't complain. It had bacon, pepper jelly, jalapenos, and Jack and Cheddar cheese on it. I'm including some pictures--the picture of my sandwich is out of focus but it still gives you an idea.

Overall I highly recommend this place and I will bring both of my...

5th time here and the last. 1st 2 times were great even though food was meh. We had an awesome bartender male with blonde hair that was attentive an took great care of us The last 3 I cannot tell you how pissed I am I even allowed myself to go back in the 5th time. The 3rd time I had a girl bartender during lunch that was just terrible so much so that we left and went to the bar down the street. Get this as we were sitting there the bartender that was serving us came in to that bar to drink. So we go hey, we can go back now and get grilled cheese so we tabbed and went back over. THAT BARTENDER THEN SHOWED UP AFTER DRINKING and we were terrified to get her esp if she was intoxicated You would think oh thank god you got a diFFERENT server but no this one was even worse. The server we had those last 3 times was so rude that we will never be back. She rolled her eyes at us when we asked questions about the menu, one visit she threw the menus at us. We were fast becoming regulars for the blonde bartender’s service but we refuse to be treated like how the short female server treated us. We both used to be in the industry and I swear if I had an employee acting a fool like that under my watch I’d show them both to the door. Sucks cause the drinks were good and the bread pudding was...

I just left the Roanoke Easter egg drop where the DGC truck was at. I was excited to try the rustic sandwich. I know it was extremely busy but we waited an hour. The only reason I didn’t leave the line was because I was starving and the other trucks at the event had nothing I would eat. I spent a bunch of money and our sandwiches were cold with over cooked bread, the cheese was barely melted, and the fries were cold, flavorless, and soggy. The only good part was the refreshing ice cold bottled water. The order taker was also handing out orders through the same small window that people were ordering at which slowed the line down even more. I really felt sorry for the guy that got his food before me cuz his cheese wasn’t melted at all and only had a couple small squares of brisket on it. The fries and my daughter’s grilled cheese went into the trash barely touched and the only reason I ate most of my sandwich was cuz I didn’t want to waste the $10 I spent on just that. I doubt I’ll ever have the opportunity to give them a second chance but for the high cost of their sandwiches I really hope they’re better under normal circumstances. Wish I could give a negative star for wasted...

Girls Night Out! We picked this place because of location and HH until 7pm, or so we thought. Upon arrival, there was only one couple in the restaurant. We were seated and handed menus but not a HH menu. When the waitress came over, we asked for a HH menu and without saying anything, she pointed to the QR Code on the table... after scanning the code, it still wasn't clarified what was on HH. I specifically asked how big of a glass they had for the HH pricing, debating on getting a draft beer of something I wasn't a fan of for $4 or do I just pay $5 for something I want, knowing it'll only be 12oz. The response I got from the waitress was the glass was 8oz. I knew she didn't know what she was talking about, we asked for a new person. She was assisted the rest of the night with our orders. Food and craft cocktails were delicious! We were told HH ended at 6, even though it's 7 on the website. Apparently the GM hasn't updated it? If you plan on visiting, make sure you call ahead to check on those HH times. Final comment, when going to the restroom, I saw it was "in use" but I only waited a few seconds and a male waiter come walking out of the female restroom. 🙄 #Cheers

I love this place. It rained cats and dogs on my way to DGC, but nothing was stopping me from going to one of my newfound faves. I'll start with the cons: parking can be tricky due to the location. THAT'S IT. That's the only negative I can think of. Alright, so today my partner and I ordered the Fajita grilled cheese and the Favorite (Yes, that's the name), tomato basil soup, four cheese Mac and cheese with bacon, and Earl Grey tea. We received the soup and Mac first and quickly learned that while they are equally delicious on their own, they are ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS as a pair. I ended up putting half the soup in the Mac (don't judge me dangit). The sandwiches arrived shortly after and we had zero complaints. Delectable. My tea was served in a large 12oz mug which was much more than I expected but was grateful because I love tea. Overall, phenomenal experience. Service was fantastic and quick. Food was amazing. Atmosphere was great. Highly recommend for everyone who is fond of grilled cheese sandwiches and specialty foods.
