Vernon Hills Advent - They told me that I was going to see Sarah Mooney (the experienced practitioner there) and without warning or anyone asking if it was OK, they sent in the practitioner who had only been there for a month (she told me this fact towards the end of our time together). She was a very nice woman, but noticeably nervous as her hands were shaking and she had a really hard time performing the nasal endoscopy.
I felt like they thought I was an "easy case" for her to practice on alone. Had they been honest with me, I would have requested that Sarah at least be present for the nasal endoscopy to make sure the young lady was angling it correctly for the exam, as it was scraping my septum and she wasn't able to complete the exam. I can't see how both of my nasal passages were that inflamed as to not be able to get an endoscope in them - I wouldn't be able to breathe hardly at all if that were the case.
I am in the healthcare field, so I understand new people need training and they eventually need to go out on their own, but the way they handled it was completely unprofessional. I can imagine the young lady was also caught off guard if she had been thrown into the exam without warning - hence the shaking hands.
Then on top of it, they bill me/my insurance for the procedure that was unable to be performed and bill it under the name of the woman who did not perform it. Seems very suspicious to bill for something that could not be performed nor was attempted by the individual it was billed under.
Very disappointing and not expected from how they portray themselves in their commercials. I would have given a single star, but I know the situation wasn't the young lady's fault, it was the experienced professional who should have known better. This experience made it to where I don't know if I can trust them or...
Read moreI would snore and snore hard core. A couple of years ago I met with my doctor and we agreed to start with an at home sleep study. This would be to collect a week's worth of information. It was uncomfortable and bulky. The results came back as no apnea. I talked it over the results with my doctor and said I felt the results were inconclusive and requested an on site study.
Went to the study and that too was uncomfortable because I was suffering from shin splints and was up for most of the night. The information collected showed no apnea.
Again, discussed the my snoring solution options. We could have gone with pallet reduction surgery, but that would include long and painful recovery. But, I decided to try the mandible advancement oral appliance.
I tried both the SnoreRX and the Vital Sleep units. I will tell you, I loved them both. If I were to recommend such items, these are great units, but this is not a review for oral appliances. LoL.
So, after 18 months of using these products, I also grind my teeth, bottom trays would get faulty, for I grind my teeth during sleep and then therefore make these items difficult to use and then make me snore again. Bummer.
Then, as 2020 was beginning to wind down, bi would hear advertisements for Advent on the radio. I hear these on a constant basis and then said, "What harm would it do you check them out?"
After, my consultation and CT scan, it was decided I needed a balloon sinuplasty.
Went through the procedure, and yes, there was some discomfort, as it is expected with any procedure. After the procedure, I felt I could finally breathe freely.
At first, there still was some snoring, but here we are, three weeks later, and no snoring.
So, I rambled long enough, so I will just say this....
Read moreDo not recommend this place at all. After hearing a radio ad, I figured I'd set up an appointment and see what the doctor says about my breathing problems through my nose. I'm not usually even very critical but the front desk people were not all that professional at check in but whatever.
Then, the real frustrations started though. I drove over an hour to this appointment and lo and behold... it's not a doctor. It's a physician's assistant that sees me. She didn't convey much knowledge or insight but just said let's do a nose scope and see if I can see anything. I explained I already had that done before but she could do it if she wanted. Thought this was part of the initial evaluation but no... IT'S A $600 SCOPE. Took her less than a minute to perform and there was absolutely no explanation this would cost any extra or be outside of the initial exam co-pay (I had already paid $40 for the appointment).
So you're saying I have to pay $190 for a visit to not even be seen by a doctor and get no answers whatsoever? Unbelievable. After calling and talking to their billing department, they were not helpful either except for apologizing this was not explained and that it would be raised to their operations department.
This place is a scam and provided no answers at all. Will be cancelling my "follow up" appointment and...
