Not worth your money at all.
For ridiculous prices, the food is completely terrible, drizzled with disgusting sauces, and with a side of raw, unblended, revolting salsa. In this review, I will tell you all about the food that they serve at Invicto.
First of all, the food itself was horrible. The meat had this weird taste that I cannot even begin to describe. I had carne asada, and it doesn’t taste like real carne asada should. It was very greasy, and topped with some weird sauce, (which I will talk about in the next paragraph). I literally couldn’t finish the taco, and I generally like tacos. I’ve been to taco places, and I can tell you for sure that the taco was definitely not how carne asada should be. Another thing that I disliked was that for the unreasonable price, they don’t have almost any good choice of tacos. They don’t even have regular chorizo, or al pastor, or any common tacos you would think should be in even the cheapest taco restaurant (which most of the time, they are). Any cheap taco place has plain chorizo. Invicto has green chorizo, (it is edible, but still screwed up), but it would be much appreciated if they put regular chorizo on the menu.
Secondly, the service was bad. It’s not that they weren’t nice, it’s just that they didn’t even ask what we wanted on the tacos before plopping all their fancy disgusting sauces on them. I usually like my tacos just with onion and cilantro, and I’m sure that there are other people who do too. Again, even at the cheapest places, they ask, “What would you like on your taco?”, (or something to that effect), but ‘a little pricy’ would be a huge understatement for this restaurant’s prices. Speaking of the sauce, this may be a matter of opinion, but I just want to say that I personally thought that the sauce may have been the worst part of the whole thing. I might have been able to finish both tacos if it wasn’t for the sauce.
Thirdly, the salsa. Now again, I know that this is a matter of opinion, but I think that salsa should be properly blended and cooked. Because it wasn’t completely blended, (I could see some flakes of ingredients in there), and that sharp, dark green color means that it wasn’t completely cooked. Matter of opinion alert! I know some people like their salsa uncooked, but for me, (and I’m sure that I’m not the only one) I find it just ridiculous to eat a salsa that hasn’t been thoroughly cooked.
In conclusion, I just want to repeat myself and say that this is totally not worth your money that you worked so hard for.
If you want some suggestions for good taco places, I would say Tacos El Rey De Oro. Very good food there. They have great chorizo, al pastor, and lengua.

Read moreInvicto is absolutely one of my favorite taquerias in the Chicagoland area. They are a Tijuana style shop with a great selection Mexican fare. The quality of the food is always top notch and the restaurant itself is always clean and has a great atmosphere.
Mulas are an absolute must and my favorite item to get on the menu. It’s served with a chipotle crema that’s perfect for dipping.
There is not a bad taco on the menu. The arabes pork option is usually my go to. Be sure to ask for some of the pineapple salsa. The quesabirria combo is quite the experience with the perfectly melty cheese and savory consommé. They also have 2 great vegetarian options between the marinated mushrooms or the fried avocado.
The cali burrito is rarely seen outside of California, and luckily they do it justice at Invicto. Filled with queso and and fries, it can’t be beat.
Vampiros are tostadas which have a lot of the same toppings as the tacos. These aren’t my favorite, but if you love tostadas you’ll be in heaven.
Every once in awhile they’ll serve cemitas, a delicious sandwich with a chicken cutlet and an adobo spread. Get this when they have it!
They have a great selection of sides. The queso is a rich blend of cheeses that pairs great with fries or chips. The guacamole is always fresh and packed with flavor. The elites are served in a cup (usually called esquites) and have a great lime flavor.
Their aguas frescas are made fresh on site daily and are always refreshing. I usually go for the horchata which is served with whipped cream.
They have a freezer filled with a ton of different flavors of flavors like strawberries and cream, pineapple, mango chili, gansito, and more.
The churro shakes are pretty good, but are often too much for me. Delicious blended ice cream with a piece of...
Read moreInvicto is a taqueria serving Tijuana style meals full of flavor! Their vast menu has something for everyone, including beverages, tacos, burritos, vampiros, sides, kids menu, and paletas. Currently, they have locations in Naperville and Vernon Hills, and they also provide pop-up taco stand service for private events. It’s a great place to grab a quick meal or stay a while to enjoy the delicious food with a cocktail (or two)! I was also very impressed to see a sign on their menu stating that for every meal you purchase from Invicto, a child in a developing country receives a meal too!
Here’s everything I tried at Invicto: 🌽 Elotes Taco - classic corn tortilla taco with creamy delicious corn 🍄 Hongos Sope - thicker tortilla base cooked with cheese and served with mushrooms and toppings 🌮 Elotes Vampiro - Tijuana-style tostada, this was surprisingly really good and I would highly recommend! 🍚 Rice & Beans - perfectly seasoned and cooked 🌯 Cali Burrito - great size and quantity for the price! Tastes really good with the salsas from their salsa bar 🍟 Papas Especiales - loaded fries with queso and other toppings, very addicting 🧀 Chips & Queso - you can never say no to queso and fresh tortilla chips 🥤 Tres Leches Shake - OMG, this was so good I could not put it down.
