On march 29, 2025. Around 8:50 to 9:30 PM. Me and my friends were walking around at the store trying to find art supplies for our skateboards. I notice this one employee stare at us and follow us. Mind you, I’m a minority( all my friends). They come up to us and screams at us in a disrespectful tone, she pointed her finger like a mother and yelled at us. We were testing out spray cans and we didn’t know we needed paper. me and my friends didn’t know about this policy. I apologize for that idiotic mistake to the store and the employees, this employees tone was unbelievable and unnecessary. I responded in a respectful way for me and my friends. After they yelled at me I stood up and apologized to them(so apologize for not knowing a rule but they don’t for following and yelling at me and my friends?). After this confrontation my friends told me they kept following us and watching over us, as if we were gonna steal something. Multiple times I caught them walking around us and watching us(can a Walmart employee stalk over underage kids?) I’m not sure but it seemed strange. OH and I forgot to mention we weren’t the only friend group. Other groups who also seemed to be “goofing” around were never acknowledged or disciplined like us. They were all white people, but for some reason it’s okay for them to do it, AND WORSE, but not me and my friends who needed these art supplies for our skateboards?(is it due to my skin color that im going to steal art supplies? Am I automatically a criminal because of my skin color? These were the intentions I got from them and this experience). I am a minor and no minor should EVER be stalked or yelled at by a GROWN ADULT. This is immature, disrespectful, and TO ME it meant with racial intent. Forgot to mention this. The employee followed us all the way to the cashiers(the art supplies are near the upper left corner and the cashiers are all the way at the front of the store)I thought of just ignoring this but no teenager should go threw this. We set no bad intentions but this worker did. I am not sure if they had a bad day or it was impulsive behavior, but I know this is wrong. I never was disrespectful and I never wanted to be disrespected, I want to talk to this employee and resolve this unnecessary tension and get an apology out of this. PEOPLE PLEASE DO...
Read moreAs a loyal customer since June 2022, I have always appreciated Walmart's commitment to providing quality products at affordable prices. However, my most recent experience has left me deeply disappointed and unsettled.
Upon entering the store, I had intended to purchase a pair of "FUBU" shoes for humorous, nostalgic reasons and some Great Value Mint Chip Ice Cream to ease the stress of a difficult day caring for my ailing mother, who is currently recovering from a medical procedure. As the primary caregiver for my mother, I rely on brief moments of respite to recharge, but unfortunately, my visit to Walmart only added to my stress.
While shopping, I noticed that I had inadvertently been charged twice for paper towels, as evidenced by the duplicate entry on my receipt, which I have attached for your reference. Understandably, I proceeded to the self-checkout to rectify this billing error and complete my purchase. However, instead of receiving assistance, I was met with suspicion and accusation from one of your associates, Germain.
Germain's accusatory tone and insinuation that I was attempting to steal from the store were not only unwarranted but deeply upsetting. This incident, compounded by his past unprofessional behavior towards me in November 2023, has left me feeling targeted and discriminated against. I want to clarify that I apologize if my response during the encounter offended anyone, but it was in response to the unjust treatment I received.
As a college graduate with a background in business management and loss prevention, I understand the importance of security measures, but I also recognize when such measures cross the line into discrimination and harassment. Being profiled and unfairly targeted as a Black man in America is a distressing experience, especially considering the significance of Black History Month, which just passed. The disregard for basic respect and dignity during my visit to Walmart on March 1st, 2024, has shattered my trust in your...
Read moreThis location has changed dramatically over the years. It’s cluttered, disorganized, and dirty. God forbid that one would need to use the restroom! Just gross! A little surprised since this IS Vernon Hills. Yesterday, I walked in to the store and 2 hispanic women were cursing and arguing with each other. People were just standing there, stunned/shocked. The women were about to start fighting and police were called. There were about 5 squad cars in the parking lot when I left, blocking one of the exits to Rt. 60. Fun times at Walmart… Anyway, I absolutely HATE self checkout and normally would choose to go to a register with a cashier. However, this was not an option on this particular day. So, I checked out my 3 items (vitamins, cranberry juice, and a 12 pk of Pepsi). All of a sudden, I could not proceed with my transaction and a cashier had to come put in their “code” in order for me to continue. There was a message on the screen about suspicious activity and me adding items in my bag that were NOT scanned. Like, seriously? The cashier that came to help was like, “Oh, you really do only have 3 items!”. What the heck? I’m sure seeing my black face on surveillance triggered this…not many of us in there at this location. I was so turned off that I considered returning my purchase. I would have done so if the line at the Customer Service desk was not so long. To avoid having customers feel like this (racially targeted), ensure that there is at least ONE register with a cashier. I’m not on Walmart’s payroll…I should not be forced to check out my items, bag my own stuff, and feel like a criminal. It is embarrassing. Yeah, done with this location. I should’ve gone to...
