I bought a PS4 controller on Black Friday for $38.99. I thought I would mix it up a bit and get a gold controller since we currently have all black ones. When I got home, my wife immediately told me that my son would not like it and that I should exchange it for a black one. I went back to the store yesterday to make the exchange. The young clerk explained that he could not make an exchange because I bought the controller when they were $38.99 and they are now $64.99 and therefore I would owe another $20.00. I am not sure how he arrived at $20.00, must be that new math I keep hearing about. I asked him what was the difference between the gold controller in my hand and the other gold and camo and black controllers he has hanging on the wall. His answer was that they are priced at $64.99 and mine is only $38.99.
Realizing my audience, I told him that he could take the $64.99 tag off of a black controller and put it over the $38.99 tag on my controller and everybody would be fine. He didn't understand. I said you have an asset that sells for whatever your current price sticker says. Nobody has to know I paid $38.99 two weeks ago. He didn't understand. By now a gentleman with a little more age on him had wandered over to see what was holding up the line. He said he was the manager so I brought him quickly up to speed. He also agreed that the store would lose money on this "EVEN" exchange.
I realized that there was no reasoning with these folks. I explained that I would just take my money back and that I would walk up the street to Walmart or BestBuy or maybe even order from Amazon. I also mentioned that I was going to write this review and even told them that I could mention them by name if they wanted. The younger clerk defiantly provided his full name. As a father, I am embarrassed for the parents of this young man. Surely they raised him with more common sense than he has displayed and as such he will remain anonymous. When it was all said and done, I ordered the controller from Amazon because they take care of their customers and will eventually put poorly run businesses like Gamestop into bankruptcy.
For what it's worth, I did call their 800 number. The CSR agreed that the store was wrong, but admitted that she had no control over the local store's decision. Save yourself the aggravation, shop somewhere else for your...
Read moreStore manager Kat is absolutely amazing, she saved me alot of money on my new console and hooked me up with proweek for free since i bought a console, i have no clue what the gentlemen above is talking about that she pressured him into a sale, unfortunately people do not read for themselves about the proweek inclusion. I was happy to have saved $115 on my console at gamestop and didnt have to buy a brand new pro. She also showed me how to access my points and rewards through pro and was SO PUMPED TO FIND OUT I GET $5.00 store credit a month as I already spend thousands with GameStop. I hate shopping online, she answered all my questions and trust me I had ALOT of questions. But I think I wanna add this for the GameStop employees to take note. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANY CUSTOMER FOR ANY REASON THAT IS YOUR FEDERAL RIGHT WITH THE EEOC. Don't let rude customers diminish your quality, This store has changed for the better and have shopped with them for over 10 years now and will not change. I also feel there should be security for their store as I personally have seen a couple come in and the gentleman was very abusive verbally toward his partner as the manager tried to deescalate the situation (he was yelling at her at the register over the amount of the transaction) the gentlemen became verbally abusive toward the employee, which I am sure corporate will see when running back the store footage. It took another customer coming in for the gentleman to stop his aggression toward both females in the store. Corporate- I would take note in the dangers in store from the customers as the employees are not...
Read moreI hate to do this but, ALL GAMESTOPS SHOULD BE SHUTDOWN. I'm happy to see their stock is doing well but it's quite the conundrum given how they're running their day-to-day business. The stock price doesn't actually reflect your in-store experience. On a Saturday afternoon, I stopped my Best Buy to purchase some gaming accessories. The controller I wanted was there but the gaming headset was not. The closest place with the product I was in search of was at the nearby Gamestop. I purchased said gaming headset and upon using the item it was defective. The microphone would not pick up my audio input. I'm pretty tech-savvy and tried several troubleshooting techniques and was unsuccessful. I decided to return it as the item is defective and is listed on their ridiculous return policy. When I returned the item to the location I purchased it from, I was told that I could not receive a refund although the receipt states that defective items are the only return you can make. After a drawn-out delegation, it turns out that I could return the item but was told multiple times that I could not. I even tried to get store credit and was told the same thing. The reason why I will not return to purchase anything is their return policy clearly shows signs of desperation. You cannot return anything and even if you're within your rights to return it, they will hassle you and tell you no for a minimum of 10mins. I won't return to any gamestop ever. I may however put some money into their stock since it's making...
