We live in Mcgregor - roughly 25 mins from this location and have used it a few times. Bought my Traxxas Maxx from them. Anyways yesterday my family and I were in Austin so we decided to stop in to one of the HobbyTowns there. The one at 2500 West Parmer Lane to be exact. I’ve been wanting the Pro Boat PCF Mark I for a while and after debating between myself, and myself, I went for it. The guys at the counter at that location on Parmer lane NEVER leave the counter by the way. So if you are new to this, or need to know where something is at in there cluttered store, get ready for the point and “it’s over there” treatment. Anyways I took it up to the counter and it obviously needed a battery and charger - so the guy was looking around behind the counter for a few minutes and then tossed the charger, battery, and adapter on the counter and said “this is what you need”. Trusting them, I made my purchase and drove the hour and 45 mins home with excitement. The fam and I were going to go to the lake to enjoy the new purchase once we charged the battery. Well, the adapter that the guy said I needed, would not fit the battery to charge it. I wasn’t about to drive back to Austin - so we hopped in the Jeep and drove to Waco, with the hope they could assist me. Halfway there I realized they closed at 6pm and we got there at 5:55pm. I rushed in and apologized - because I know they closed in 5 mins.
I’ll put a break in my paragraphs at this moment so everyone can focus on the next paragraph- these guys were overly exceptional when it comes to their customer service, as always, but that night was different. They took their time to find exactly what I needed and even stayed open late - which I hate being that guy and had every intention to not be the guy that made them stay open late, but they insisted and kept saying “take your time” and “that’s what we are hear for”. After about 10 mins they had me set up. I made the $18 purchase that would put our boat in the water that day!
And to thank them, I even bought a Traxxas Crawler - we’ve been wanting one and they deserved the sale.
I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to help us when you could have easily told us to come back tomorrow.
PS: Mr. Mrs. say thank you again!
I’ll never go back to the...
Read moreThis is in regards to the HobbyTown Waco location’s return policy. Product & overall experience buying items is great. Good team who is very helpful.
I purchased a Gundam master grade model product 12/22/2023 5:40 pm, came back next morning 12/23/2023 11:30 am to try to return the one I originally chose to buy (& to instead purchase two other ones). The item was still sealed, unopened package still in bag, receipt alongside as well - the same condition that it was purchased in.
The gentlemen I spoke to was actually the same person who had helped me the night before & during check out. I was told by him that there are no refunds on model kits as soon as they leave the store. He mentioned product being possibly melted (in 70 degree weather - makes sense doesn’t it?) & it possibly being opened & sealed back up. I was very surprised & disappointed with their refund policy.
If you purchase any model kits, I recommend just ordering DIRECTLY from Hobbytown online, as they offer a 30 day return policy on...
Read moreWent on a Wednesday evening, they weren't very busy at all. Didn't plan on spending any money but they were quick to get me financed and approved, weather I made a purchase or not. Sure enough, I bought a Traxxas Slash 4x4 vxl fox edition that soars over 60 mph! Well, at least it did when I bought it. Waited till the next day to drive it. Put it down on my driveway and hit the throttle. For a few brief seconds I felt like Vin Deisel in Need for Speed when he popped a wheelie in that mean dragster muscle car. Pure power, straight to the wheels... Then I went to turn onto the street and did about 20 barrel rolls, clearing and missing the entire street and landed in my neighbor's lawn across from me. I shook it off, made a couple semi successful passes before turning the wrong way and wedged myself under a Honda civic. Broke a shock. I guess I'll be going back for parts here soon as I...
