I’m very disappointed with the service at the Ethiopian Embassy. The processing time for documents like the Yellow Card takes much longer than promised, and no one ever answers phone calls or emails. The staff seem overwhelmed or uninterested, and there’s no clear guidance for applicants. Appointments are hard to schedule, and even after visiting in person, I left with more questions than answers. For an official government service, this level of disorganization is unacceptable. I hope they seriously improve customer service and transparency.

Okay !! I don’t know where to start but let me start from peoples reviews on this embassy website the first time when I see peoples comments and reviews to be honest I was frustrated to start my process on this embassy ,yes all reviews was true most diasporas disappointed how they were treated no phone call response and also email I said this because I was trying for couple days and feel ashamed of that , but God is great finally I met an amazing person her name was Emebet Bekele she is the most important person in that embassy because the way she treated me is awesome amazing!! She even call me for some thing which I miss when I sent the documents for a correction and when I tried to communicate with her just one phone rings she picked up the phone to help me or other clients I don’t know her even by face but Emebet was very humble person when I talk to her and my process is going smoothly this time because she helped me a lot and a lot and I recommend her in the better position in that embassy because she is willing to help people that all important in one embassy EMEBET I just wanted to say this you are an amazing person thank you so much I really appreciate for all things serving your people and the nation of Ethiopia ,but one thing I am really sorry about her is she don’t deserve to see bad reviews on the place where she work that is Embassy or Ethiopia ,the funny thing is I give 5 star rate for the Embassy because of her I believe am the first person to give 5 stars for the Embassy of Ethiopia God bless you...

A Truly Positive Experience at the Ethiopian Embassy in Washington, D.C.

I recently visited the Ethiopian Embassy in Washington, D.C. for passport renewal services, and I was genuinely surprised—in the best possible way. After hearing so many negative comments about the embassy staff over the years, I walked in with mixed expectations. However, my experience turned out to be completely different from what I had heard.

From the moment I entered the building, I was met with kindness and professionalism. The gentleman at the security gate greeted us warmly, and the same level of attentiveness continued throughout—from the Diaspora Services desk to the Consular Services desk. Every staff member I interacted with was respectful, friendly, and helpful. It truly felt like a little piece of home!

What impressed me even more was the speed and efficiency of their service. My documents were processed, signed, stamped, and sent to my email within just a few hours. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

I’m very happy with the service I received and want to express my sincere appreciation to everyone at the embassy. I also hope people stop spreading inaccurate or outdated complaints. Things have clearly changed for the better, and the staff deserves recognition for their excellent work.

Wishing continued success to Tegene his team and everyone at...

TERRIBLE!! I came to Ethiopian Embassy in DC, looking for service, unfortunately, such a disappointment in terms of how they are operating the Embassy’s Office, NOT efficient at all!! The information on the website is not legit or clear and they will tell you to bring documents that you need and when you bring all they’ve asked, they will tell you, oh no it’s not complete. Just wasting your time making multiple trips… the culture of the office reminds me of exactly how they run offices back home in Ethiopia. Simply SAD, we will never improve, even sitting on American soil, they operate the office exactly like back home, Terrible!!! Phone calls to Embassy never got picked up, We can do better. We can be efficient in things that we do. Please Serve the community efficiently, after all, that’s one of the reason why you are here. Thanks. 🙏🏽 P.s. Mr. Teramed needs to be checked, in terms of his temperament, he try to get upset with me because I asked, what I need to bring in writing, due to misinformation, and website information is not being efficient, he refused to give me the documents that I need to bring in writing and got upset, stating, I’m wasting his time. On the contrary, it’s the our time that has being wasted with misinformation and inefficient Office operation. I recommend returning for a better...
