EDIT: I am glad the owner responded because clarity is important. If you are looking for an establishment that is more focused on being competitive with Amazon than providing a fair MSRP, then make sure to buy your Magic goods at Labyrinth. I bought the set for 200 and you’re charging 280, that’s more than just a modest increase. I wanted so bad to support my nearest store, but your own employee steered me to making an online preorder on your site, and that initiated the conversation and the research that opened my eyes. Admittedly foisting the burden of high rents onto the customers is EXACTLY what I meant by an unsustainable model; it’s not like most hobbyists have much in disposable income or extra cash. I pay high dc rents just like you do! I also am not a budget shopper or Amazon subscriber, I intentionally shop DEALS AND BARGAINS, neither of which this establishment provides. I really hope this input proves to be a meaningful contribution to evaluating your pricing strategy; so that I can give you the business I’m currently outsourcing to shops further afield. ————————————- ORIGINAL POST I was talking to a friend in Missouri about pre ordering the “Magic the Gathering Modern Horizons 3” commander decks, and imagine my surprise when the price they paid at their local store was nearly 30 percent less than what I was quoted? I was left with no more logical choice than to order from their LGS via the dreaded online purchase option, solely because mine marks up the price of Magic cards straight to the moon. And it’s not just that one MTG product, it’s all of them; consistently $20+ (or much more) higher than LGSs in other localities. I don’t know if the difference in cost is to pay for a ritzy Capitol Hill location, but what I do know is this model cannot be sustainable. Especially with how I can watch their staff be mad familiar and friendly with the person in front of me and then try to rush me along twice now. This is my second experience with Labyrinth. The first was when I was newer to Magic and asking lots of questions about products. The teller told me to “just buy something”, because apparently I can look all that stuff up later and figure it out as I go and after spending hundreds of dollars on whatever you say.

I visited DC from Canada and was taken here for a quick stop to pick up some Pokemon cards and HOLY if you are a nerd like me this will be your new favourite store! They have everything from dnd, Pokemon, legos, board games, and most importantly the most friendliest staff☺️ They were super sweet and you can talk to them about any of your interests (for me it was Pokemon) and they will have such helpful info and options to choose from that I don’t have back in Canada! Not to mention the prices are great they are super reasonable. They also have events like a board game night Pokemon AND DND event! They most likely have more but that’s what I got to see in the store! They were also kind enough to give me the last sticker pack for free! It’s super cute and can’t wait to put it on my binder!!! 100/10 rating from Canada! I will be travelling back here with an empty suitcase next time!! Thank you so much!! 💐☺️

We were looking to add to our game collection and, on a whim, stopped in at Labyrinth Games & Puzzles. Wow. The collection of games and puzzles in their store was quite impressive! The staff is super friendly and helpful. We talked to a staff member who was highly knowledgeable and recommended a few games based on what we were looking for. We ended up buying both of his recommendations and have no regrets about our purchase.

Words cannot describe how marvelous this place is. I've been living in DC for about seven and a half months now, and this place still never gets old. They have almost every board game you can think of, and if they don't they can order it for you for 20% off. It's absolutely amazing. I have ordered multiple things from them because it's even cheaper than Amazon sometimes. Not only that, but with the new expansion tot heir store, they're much more open and spacious. No more cramped hallways!

The staff is almost always friendly and ready for any discussion concerning games. You can tell that Labyrinth hire people who know their stuff. Their employees have tried out almost every game in the store. Not only that, but they try to make an effort to get to know you. They also have a lot of cool things like Christmas wrapping for presents and game nights. They also have a cool "try-before-you-buy" section in the back where you can play multiple board games before you buy them.

If you're looking for the TCG front, don't expect individual cards. They only...

Wandered in on a chilly Autumn afternoon, lured in by a math puzzle on the outdoor chalk signboard (with prize!), and wandered out much later. The staff was super-friendly, giving me plenty of time to fiddle with one of the frustratingly fun, hand-crafted iron "ring" puzzles. I sort of solved it, and when I was ready to give up on part II of the puzzle, a staff person kindly showed me the secret. I browsed the enormous selection of games and puzzles, and didn't feel pressured to buy anything as I browsed (though of course I did select a unique magnet game to bring home, after playing it there.)

A kids' birthday party was just ending while I was there, and the staff were super nice about letting the kids exchange colors of prizes they had, and helping a parent select the right version of a puzzle toy for his older kids. They do adult birthday parties and social gatherings, too. I'll definitely be back, though it's a dangerous place for my wallet! Perfect place to find unique gifts for the playful...
