Now I know why I was able to get such a great deal on a hotel in the heart of DC.
Needed something close to the convention center but everywhere I looked I was being quoted anywhere from $250 to $400 a night, and the hotel with breakfast included were even worse! I mean, I was looking at holiday inn and hampton inn but could not find anything reasonable.
Then I came across the Madison, and while they had no complimentary breakfast, they had free wifi, a gym, an in-hotel restaurant, and rooms at a price tag that didn't sink my vacation trip. But every pro comes with a con.
Checking in was easy and the staff at the front desk were always attentive, friendly, and helpful. Walking into my room I found it well airconditioned, clean, and simple. Just the way I like it. They offered a slew of snacks and drinks at a pretty common over priced tag value, so I left those be. Because nearby where are at least three grocery stores where one can stock up on things they may need, all within walking distance.
My first night I was quite tired and sore from a long walk around the national mall, and this is when I discovered how uncomfortable the beds are. The pillows to begin with are as soft as feathers, and about as thin as them too. Your head will sink to the bottom of the ocean in these, removing any support for the neck. Normally they include one firm and one soft option on beds, but both sets of pillows here were the same fluffy nothingness. Meanwhile the bed itself is as firm as they come, so get ready for some stiff backs. Ouch. At least the sheets and comforter were good, though it does take a little to warm up in them if you are someone who likes sleeping in a cold room like me.
Subsequent nights were about the same in terms of sleep quality, lots of tossing and turning, trying to fluffy up the pillows, etc.
The shower was at least excellent, with good water pressure, a few options for shampoo, conditioner, and soap/bodywash. The bathroom is also very well lit, though the ventilation could use a little work. No fan? And the door to the bathroom had to be slammed shut, and I do mean slammed, with all the force you can muster, or else it will pop open.
Now while they do have free wifi, and it is quite stable, I will note that they lack anything in terms of normal sitting. There is no office chair or any thing to sit on that isn't some Nouveau riche, all style, no comfort, seat. Even their breakfast area suffers from this same issue, as even as I type this the table is too tall and the couch sinks too deep. It's like they don't want you to sit around too long.
Speaking of the breakfast, it too, like the restaurant, is overpriced. It offers most of the regular offerings you'd find at a complimentary breakfast, eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, bagels, etc. And a few extra things, like breakfast sandwiches, a coffee bar with espresso and the like, but I was underwhelmed. Especially for $33, you bet your bottom dollar I was expecting to be served like I was at a regular restaurant, but it is all self serve. Not worth it, just go to any number of the cafes or breakfast establishments nearby. They'll be cheaper and of equal or better quality.
Overall I pretty much got what I paid for, and while I might think of coming back, I'd know better about where to dine and...

Greetings,
I would like to address a couple of concerns regarding my recent stay at Le Meridien. Firstly, I must commend the exceptional comfort of my room and the pleasant night's rest it provided. However, I feel compelled to bring to your attention two issues that significantly impacted my experience, both of which pertain to the conduct of your staff members.
During check-in, I encountered a situation where the desk agent, a young lady wearing glasses, mentioned a policy regarding employee discount rooms and upgrades. While I appreciate the gesture of granting me an upgrade with my elite membership, it was disconcerting for her to mention up grades aren’t allowed for employee discounts, especially given my Platinum Elite status.I was not informed of this policy while staying at other Marriott properties, despite being a frequent traveler.Nevertheless, I was taken aback by the comment made in a condescending manner by your staff here at Le Meridian.
Furthermore, I had an unpleasant interaction at the bar around 9:30 pm. Despite arriving before the last call, I was urged to hurry and place my order quickly as they were closing the bar. I ordered a margarita from the bartender on duty, who I believe is of Asian descent. Subsequently, two couples arrived and were served by another bartender, who I understand is Ethiopian. I observed a difference in the treatment I received compared to the couples, as the Asian bartender displayed impatience and in an ill-mannered tone when reminding me to settle my check by tapping the check book I already had opened in front of me, urging me to hurry and sign. I corrected his lack of manners. This behavior was unwarranted, especially considering that new customers were still being served. I settled my bill promptly and left without receiving an apology.
I must express my disappointment at the lack of professionalism displayed by the staff members during my stay. Such behavior is uncharacteristic of the Marriott brand, and it has left me hesitant to return to your establishment or recommend it to others in the future.
I trust that you will address these concerns promptly to ensure a more positive experience for future guests.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
This matter could have been addressed in a review, however, I prefer to discuss my...

Location: Le Méridien Washington, D.C., The Madison is a gem in the heart of D.C. The location is fantastic—just a few blocks from the White House and easily accessible via the Metro, including a direct route to the airport.
Parking: While the hotel offers valet parking, I used Uber, which made pick-ups and drop-offs seamless.
Check-In: Check-in was an exceptional experience thanks to the incredible front desk staff. A special shoutout to Kenny, who went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed. He thoroughly explained the hotel amenities and made my day by announcing I was the Elite Guest of the Day, which came with a $50 food and beverage credit—a lovely touch!
Room: The rooms have been beautifully refreshed as part of the hotel’s recent $15 million remodel. My room was spotless, quiet, and featured a great city view. The housekeeping staff deserves a huge thank you for promptly assisting with a few items to make my stay feel like home. I loved the bath products, slippers, and fluffy pillows.
That said, while parts of the bathroom have been updated, a full remodel with a walk-in shower instead of a tub would elevate the experience further. Another minor downside is the inability to stream content or access favorite shows on the TVs, which would be a nice addition. The minibar was well-stocked with snacks and drinks for purchase.
Amenities: The recently renovated gym was excellent and provided a solid workout. While there’s no pool, I had access to the club lounge on the lobby level thanks to my status. The lounge offers breakfast and evening snacks, and though I didn’t have the chance to use it, it looked like a great space to work or relax.
Food & Beverage: I didn’t dine at the restaurant but did enjoy drinks at the bar. The bartender was friendly and attentive, and the drink selection was fantastic. The on-site market is convenient for grab-and-go options, though my to-go Caesar salad seemed to have been sitting in the fridge too long and wasn’t as fresh as I’d hoped.
Stay Again: I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel for both business and leisure trips. The phenomenal staff, excellent facilities, and prime location make Le Méridien Washington, D.C., The Madison a home away from home. I look forward to returning to this...
