Snowgloā¦NO-GO! āļøš«
I recently visited Snowglow at Union Market Hi-Lawn with my homegirls for a girls' night out, and letās just say the experience was far from whatās hyped on social media. What you see online versus what you get in person is like comparing snowflakes to slush. šØļøā”ļøš§
First, the prices were astronomical for what was offered. šø A friend ordered a drink that tasted like TheraFluāseriously, it was barely drinkable! š·š„¤ As for the charcuterie board, calling it disappointing is an understatement. It was so tiny, it wouldnāt have satisfied a 5-year-old, let alone adults. š§š„ā”ļøš Then came what they called "prawn shrimp." I think most know prawns to beālarge and tastyā¦.these were more like popcorn shrimp. š¤š At least the waiter was honest in describing them, saying, āthink popcorn,ā but he forgot to mention thereād be more cauliflower than shrimp. š„¦š¤ If I wanted vegetables, I wouldāve ordered a salad!
Adding insult to injury, the website promises a heated room, but that was far from the truth. We ended up asking for blankets because it was so cold. š„¶šŖµ While the experience is supposed to last 90 minutes, last call came at 60 minutes, and by the 70-minute mark, we were all convinced the heat was turned off to "encourage" us to leave. Talk about āyou donāt have to go home, but you canāt stay hereā! šāļø
The ambiance didnāt deliver the cozy winter magic it promised. For what you pay, you'd expect an unforgettable seasonal escape, but instead, it felt like a poorly staged Instagram trap. šøāØā

I stumbled upon Union Market during a short weekend trip to D.C. I had just finished a long walk through the National Mall and was craving something local, real, and authentic ā not your typical tourist trap food.
At first, I was overwhelmed. The place was buzzing with people, live music, and the smell of everything from tacos to Ethiopian coffee. I had trouble finding a seat, and the line at my chosen vendor ā Puddinā ā was painfully long. For a moment, I considered leaving.
But then something beautiful happened.
A local guy, maybe in his 30s, noticed I looked lost and said, āDonāt sweat it, man. Thatās just Union Market ā loud, messy, but totally worth it.ā He pointed me toward a quieter outdoor patio upstairs. And wow ā not only did I find a perfect seat, but I got to enjoy my shrimp & grits while listening to a street saxophonist play Georgia On My Mind. It felt like something out of a movie.
Union Market isnāt perfect ā itās chaotic, packed, and you might wait a bit. But itās alive. Itās human. Itās America in a microcosm: loud voices, friendly strangers, and flavor youāll never forget.
Highly recommended for anyone wanting a real taste of D.C. ā literally and culturally.
