I am grateful every day I found Marcia's classes at Frog Temple Pilates just before everything went online. She's their GENIUS prenatal and postnatal pilates teacher supporting pregnant and recovering moms. I've worked with lots of types of teachers and body workers over the past years to deal with major back issues and other childbirth related pain, and she's a one of a kind teacher. Great listener, incredibly wise and intuitive around what your body needs, creates classes that stretch and strengthen and challenge and heal all at the same time, and she's a delight to be around. I've tried a few other online classes at different studios and none of them replicate in person as well as Marcia's and Frog Temple. Honestly as a new mom I prefer not having to commute, because she's so good at offering adjustments and cues online. I hope all the pregnant mamas out there join Marcia's prenatal classes and join the community of mamas across Chicago...
Read moreThere's something about a studio's aura that either sets you on edge or immediately envelopes and welcomes you, and as soon as I walked into Frog Temple I immediately felt more relaxed and calm. My first instructor was Jeanne and she was fantastic, super understanding about my complete lack of Pilates knowledge (or skill), and keeping class fun even when it got challenging (I love her playlist!). I went again 2 days later for class with Ghienhel, who was also incredibly welcoming and fun. I travel for work, so I'm only able to come twice a week if that, but I'm so happy to have found a studio that has already nestled into my life. Workout-wise, I was shocked at how sore I was after each class - sometimes an exercise wouldn't feel too challenging in the moment but not 30min later I could feel it. I'm looking forward to continuing my Pilates studies here and at home, and to be honest this studio makes me want to move...
Read moreI hurt my low back about a year ago and tried a variety things to help (including two different chiropractors). Regular pilates at Frog Temple was by far the most beneficial. I’ve now been doing classes here for about six months and everyone that works at the studio is great. I think the trick with pilates is that it’s not necessarily a substitute for exercise — instead, it’s more a required maintenance to keep feeling well if you’re like me and spend a lot of time sitting at a desk (and on a couch). I felt like I was “getting it” a couple months after starting, but still clearly have a ton to learn. The instructors definitely pay attention and make sure you’re getting the most out of the class. And summer time has been great for classes because they’re a little emptier and you get even more direct coaching. Highly...
