Holstein Park Public Pool (Outdoor) — Attraction in West Chicago Township

I remember when this place used to be packed with Hispanic families it had a lively and vibrant vibe. Coming back recently, the neighborhood dynamic has definitely changed, and it feels much more chill now. They've also renovated the locker rooms, making them smaller than before. Just a heads-up: they no longer provide shampoo or soap, so it's best to bring your own. There are lawn chairs available for use, which is convenient. Every 45 minutes to an hour, they make everyone evacuate the pool and wait outside for a mandatory 15-minute break. There's a nice park next door and a play area for kids. Yesterday it was close to 90° outside. Hamlin pool was closed because something was broken and they didn't have it fixed. We went to another park with one sprinkler with 6 to 9 kids tryna play under it. We settled with that for 5 minutes and it shuts off on all the kids. The poor kids sat under it pray for it to turn on while cooking under the sun. My family and I left and we found Holstein Public Pool. 7/13/2014: facilities very nice but staff (captain) very unprofessional. Visiting our 2yrold grandson & our daughterlaw suggested this toddler pool. Came here Wed. & enjoyed ourselves. So came again Fri. Captain told me we couldn’t come in after waiting in line because I didn’t have a swimsuit. No rules posted anywhere!!!! We had no problem Wed.!!!!
