Do not open a membership at this gym. They literally manipulate you into paying more money. I was told that if I paid $20 immediately I could get management promotion of paying $20 w a guest. I paid the money then I got there and it’s no guest connected to my account. So I had to pay another $30 , to get a new account. They informed me they would close and refund me the money from the last account. I never received the money but instead they took a $59.00 annual fee from both accounts totaling to almost $120.00. So I lost $180.00 from La fitness. I would believe this was an accident but this happened to me 2 years ago as well , which is why I stopped going to La fitness. I believe the sales reps do this to meet a specific criteria. Then if they made the mistake why would I have to pay to open another account , instead of them just fixing the account. Then when you complain a 5 number text you just to make it seem as if they care.

This is the most poorly managed LA fitness in Chicago. I’m giving it one star because it’s the least I can rate it. I’d like to note that the janitorial staff work extremely hard to keep up with how filthy the place gets. They’re appreciated. However, this location has high traffic and the bare minimum equipment to operate as a gym. The equipment is poorly maintained. There is often not duplicate weights to complete sets and staff will tell you people steal them. Which is unfortunate but they also have no plan or take any interest in replacing equipment. All of the mats for classes are torn, ripped and look bitten. Mirrors are cracked and the “spa” (sauna/pool) is closed frequently. It’s easily the worst LA in Chicago. It’s BYOE (bring your own equipment). I provide my own mat, cable attachments and barbel cushion. For close to $800 a year this is BS.

The sales rep made false promises to us that we would have access to make reservations for the racquet court for practicing tai chi and kung fu. The desk attendant (short with long dark hair) informed us that other guests reservations take priority over ours and that we should terminate our membership. She could not provide additional insight and told us to "read the fine print in the contract" . She said the signs on the racquetball court said that all racquetball activities took priority which is not true if you read the sign. We are waiting to be contacted by the management to make this right

To summarize my experience I would say this is the worst gym I have been to with the worst customer service I have ever received in a gym and the highest level of broken health codes I have seen in an establishment. The lockers area and especially the showers are a health hazard, mold dropping on you from the ceiling in the showers, hair and dirt all over the floors, trash everywhere, you have to pay for towel service and what you get is a smelly kitchen rag like material that is not even big enough to cover a 5’2” petite woman completely, I am 5’9” and a prude and it was either cover the top or cover the bottom… could not cover both… not to speak of the dust and dirt everywhere, the pool is so dirty that the water is cloudy and I would not recommend anyone getting in that water because that truly is dangerous for your health, in the locker room you will not find anything, not one hairdryer, not a q-tip, a cotton ball, lotion, there is nothing, if you are coming from FFC or any other gym you know what I am talking about, in the showers you will only find the cheapest industrial hand soap a company could buy, no shampoo, no conditioner, the only time I used their soap on my body I had a rash for days, that is how bad the soap is, the whole entire place is just dirty, grimy, dusty, everywhere, is like no one ever cleans there. You would expect with the place so dirty that at least the customer service would be a little better, well no, that’s not how it works here because even the sales people after they get you to sign up are complete ignorant when it comes to customer service and speaking to people in a pleasant manner, including supervisors. I used to go to FFC and one time I was just shopping at whole foods, on my way out one of the sales people from LA Fitness stopped me and convinced me to give LA Fitness a chance, I wish I wish I wish I would have done my homework about this place, I wish I would have looked in the locker rooms, I was in a rush and the sales person made everything look and sound so wonderful and I gave in and because of the price I said ok and I signed up, I was promised everything I had at FFC, unfortunately it was nothing like FFC, so far from it I get depressed every time I step in that gym, I was promised towels, I asked for one and the supervisor pretty much rudely told me I could not get it unless I paid, even after I explained what the sales person told me I still have to pay, and for what? A nasty old rough kitchen rag, I was told to try out the loop location which is supposedly better…. I went there promised a free trial work out to see if I like the place, it was a waste of my time, I get there and they are overcharging me even though I was promised a deal, and told that if I wanted to try the club out I had to pay a fee, plus the manager there was just as awful and had a fake nice attitude with me and again lied about the hairdryers. I am so done with this place, every day in the locker all you hear is complaints about the dirtiness of this place, I would never come back if I did not have paid for my membership here, but I am going to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) and the Attorney General to file complaints about their service and broken health codes. Do your homework before you sign up here, you are going to regret it, there are other gyms that are so much better for the same amount of money, unless you like dirt, broken health codes, hair everywhere, horrible customer service and mold poisoning save yourself the trouble. And I am not making up a story because I might be mad about the customer service, I have taken plenty of pictures and can prove how dirty and disgusting...

I signed up for this gym roughly 6 months ago do to its convenient location in relation to where I am and because a few friends have LA memberships. When I brought one of my friends in to try and get him a membership, he just wanted to try out the gym. We showed up and were told that we a sales rep would assist us. We were in a time crunch and tried to make this as quick as possible, however the sales rep was anything but professional. From the get go, he had insulted my friend with the comment, "Does he even speak English?" It gets better tho. He doesn't take insults lightly but he kept his cool. As we sat down, it was explained that he just wanted to try out the gym and the rep asked if we had printed out a free day pass. I told him no, but could we use your computer to do so; we got a quick no. Ok, i then asked how do we get these passes, since I dont have one with me, and he said you have to print them out. I remembered seeing the small yellow and blue business cards upstairs on a table and asked what those were, he had said that they are guest passes. Ok, I then asked him cant I just go and grab one to use then? His response was that hes not getting hustled by us. I was thrown back and at this point by his exceptional business skills, we've evidently wasted our time. My friend, already furious about the racial comment, who is Korean, got up and left and words were exchanged between both himself and the sales rep. The last thing my friend said was why don't you meet me outside, i have something for you. After leaving and taking the escalators upstairs, this location is in a shopping complex, I was very confused and thrown back by the entire experience. I had never experience such lack of professionalism and not to mention, that no other staff members stepped in during this conflict. A few minutes passed and that same sales rep came up the escalators clutching a pair of bull cutters, what they use to cut locks, saying lets see what you got for me. I was certain that this man was going to seriously injure my friend or myself, luckily his shift manager came up with him, but instead of stopping him was there as a "bystander." Who in their right mind does this at work, better yet, who hired this raging short tempered individual? ..They continued to exchange wards and then my friend called the police. Cops showed up and we had explained what happened and at the end of it, nothing came of it EXCEPT that the manager had told me if I ever bring him around again, they will ban ME from LA Fitness. For those wondering, the sales rep is there still to this day.

As others mentioned, racking weights is a thing of the past and their slogan should incorporate what they have posted across the gym on the walls "If you want to get stronger, rack your weights" as if racking weights is beneath the staff and completely out of their job...

Descriptive view. being a member of the YMCA for 4 years i finally decided to go to a bigger gym with more variety of machines.

2/5 Boys locker room. Pretty big compare to other gyms ive been too. Big mistake in using carpet as the gym floor. It stinks up the whole locker room really bad since they don't clean it. REALLY BAD.

1/5 toilets. Horrible. ONLY 3 TOILET STALLS FOR THE WHOLE GYM for guys. 5 pissers. 2 out of the 3 toilets always seem to be backed up and no one has the courtesy to flush the toilets when there done if there not backed up. lazy people. If there backed up, forget it they wont clean it untill the next day. How could you have only 3 toilets for guys for the whole facility???? 2/5 swimming pool. Most of the time Ive gone its sort of clean. Last time i went there was a lot of dirt on the floor of the pool. I could feel my feet slipping as i was moving. Took a closer look with my mask on and for sure there was a lot of dirt on the floor moving around. SOME people dont rinse before going in the pool either. 4/5 sauna. Gets up to 180 degrees F (says on the note) only bad thing is that some people go in there after there workout and stink up the place.

4.5/5 WEight variety is the only plus. They have around 4 different machines for abs. Some doubles. one for glutes which is a big plus. 3 different kinds for calfs. 2 different kinds for hamstrings. 3 different for thighs. 2 different hip abductor and the indoctor one. have a variety of diferent types for chest including free weights and selectorize equipment. variety of back machines as well. variety for arms including selectorize equipment and free weights. variety of tricept machines.

not rated. Basketball court. racket court rooms.. I dont use them so no rating from me. any questions feel free to ask.

Oh People dont re rack at all after there done using the machines. or clean the machine after using it. This is the reason i started bringing a towel. since the sprays and the towels are at the far ends of the gym only you have to walk far to clean a machine. maybe thats why. As far as the weights not re rack i dont mind since i use plenty of weight on the machines. Makes my...
