Sadly, I had started writing a really great review about this particular Michaels a few years ago and never finished. When I came back today to write a review that wasn't so great it made me sad. This store has gone way downhill. 12/20/23
While shopping for a few specific things I had to ask where something was and was met with a curt response by an older gentleman. I would later acertain this was the store manager. Now, I would totally understand if they were busy rushing around to accommodate for the holiday season but the only thing the middle aged man that responded rudely to me was rushing to do was to hang out with the young women that also worked there. I noticed while I was still shopping that they were having rushes where people were waiting in lines. I counted at least five associates there, most of them just hanging out in the front, NOT assisting customers. There we 2 cashiers when there could have been more to make it so people weren't unnecessarily waiting. Finally, I got up to the front and again, people were talking and not at their posts. Finally when a line of 8 people behind and 2 in front of me had formed I asked nicely but loudly if the manager (bald guy more concerned with the younger women) could open another register and I was met with another rude response. After all of that one of my items was on a better sale than I was hoping for so that was nice BUT I was told that they basically don't bother doing a very good job with the signage so that makes calculating your craft store run on a budget impossible. I was able to get checked out and was so happy with the sales but the experience and the rude manager made this the last time I'll step foot in that Michaels.
I sincerely hope someone talks to this team because I could tell I was not the only person that was irritated by the...
Read moreToday I ordered a serger online due to the fact that Michaels website stated that all the stores were out of that product. I walked into the West Jordan location and they're sitting proudly on the shelf was the product that I wanted. I had to search high and low for a young lady to help me. I first ask if I could cancel My online order and purchase the one from the store and she said no. I could buy the one from the store and try to cancel the online order later. No, of course I didn't want to do that. I accepted that and figured with her disposition when I approached her that I wasn't going to get anywhere and I was right. I then asked her if they sold thread for the machines and in a condescending tone she says of course we do in the back on isles 50 and 51. Guess what? They sell on isles 51 yarn lots and lots of yarn on aisle 50 they notions lots and lots of notions. As far as thread goes, Yes they have thread but for sewing machines very very little and not the kind that I need for Sergers. So the lady who was doing the inventory or whatever you were doing that couldn't be bothered today, I hope you get the message that the reason people ask questions is because we don't know and you are supposed to know. You don't have to be rude. Your job might be a little bit more pleasant if you took the time to be pleasant....
Read moreThis location is ok, but not great. As other reviewers have pointed out, staff are not as friendly or helpful at this store when compared with other locations. I recently stopped by both this location as well as the Riverton store for some Christmas decorations, and while Riverton had a few empty aisles with new layouts (which made it look like they had given up on Christmas and we're already moving on to something else)... but at least they had a good selection for the items that were there.
This store looked like they ran out of everything and hadn't bothered to restock anything at all. Lots of empty shelves and racks in the midway. Even the ceramic village displays were empty shelves, save for two or three remaining items and a couple displays for items you couldn't purchase, which is insane for early December.
Finally, this location has added directional arrows to enforce social distancing, but customers don't seem to follow them at all and employees neither follow them or enforce distancing. In fact, one employee nearly ran into me while I was backing out of the way of a customer who was ignoring distancing and was trying to push a cart past. All in all, not a great experience. Sticking to other nearby locations is...
