The Insignia series of TVs, produced by Best Buy, may be the best value on the market, beating anything on Amazon even during Prime Days. You can easily pay twice as much for a minor step up in quality. My salesman at this store was extremely helpful and friendly. Yet, the entire experience was ruined when I tried to actually get the TV.
My first mistake was trying to change the phone number and email on the family account, both of which went to my wife who did not want to be bothered with updates about this purchase while at work. The Best Buy database is apparently such a mess that half of it updates to the new phone number and email for automated notifications, but leaves the old email and address for logins and notifications directly from the delivery man. Lesson learned: do not use a family account, even when the salesman asks if it could be under your wife's phone number. Create a new account for each person, or any time a phone number or email changes, to avoid confusing the Best Buy database.
My second mistake was letting Best Buy deliver it, especially considering where I live: on the outskirts of the city where it is considerably less profitable for delivery services to reach. Even though we live in a house with no fence or gate at an address that is clearly marked and easily found in Google Maps, Amazon deliverers regularly mark our packages as undeliverable and send them back rather than make the trip. So, when Oscar from Best Buy claimed our television was undeliverable because it got damaged in transport, we did not believe him, and told him repeatedly to deliver it anyway. He ignored our phone calls and texts. Best Buy kept telling us he was coming even though he said he wasn't. We wasted the whole day waiting for him to show up because we had told him to come anyway and because Best Buy said he was coming. Yet, he never came.
My third mistake was thinking I could get some help by phone from the store where I purchased the television. Instead, when I called the phone number for the store, I got rerouted to India, where I tried for 40 minutes to explain my situation to someone who had a shallow grasp of the English language, and did not mind lying about several things including bearing false witness to Oscar's claim of having personally verified that the television itself (not just the package) was damaged. I tried two more times to reach the store, but got rerouted to even more incompetent and rude individuals who were not at the store even one of them originally claimed to have been.
Finally, I did something right, and just picked up the TV myself from the store like I should have done from the beginning. There it was, sitting at the side of the service desk with my wife's name on it, and some minor damage to the box that obviously did not affect the TV itself. I opened it and verified that the television was in good shape, then took it home to find it worked fine. Both Oscar and the phone rep had been lying about the television having been damaged.
It took another half hour for the service reps at store to figure out how to release the television to me. One of them claimed the television wasn't there even though I could physically point to it, with my wife's name printed on its side. They eventually had to cancel the order and then resell it to me. Lesson learned: enjoy Best Buy for the friendly salespeople and deals, but never try to interact or use their service reps or delivery service. And, whatever you do, don't take their word...
Read moreSold out of the item I was looking to buy my sister. But not exactly their fault because they can only stock the products they have in the store. I sure do wish that their prices were more comparable to other places because I'm positive at Best buy much of the retail price you're paying for has to do with the fact you're getting it from Best buy which is in my opinion ridiculous. On many occasions I found identical products at other stores or from other retail sources that are in some cases over $100 cheaper but on average most of Best buy's products can be found at at least a 25% to 30% higher retail purchase price then most places. I'm not 100% of where of all of their policies as far as the geek squad they send out to help people with their problems if any after purchasing from their store so maybe the reason a lot of their prices are higher is because you can get some sort of free geek squad assistance after purchasing an item from their store so don't take my opinion as complete fact because I've never used the geek squad services since I typically know how to troubleshoot electronics and I've never had a serious problem with anything I bought from them. but keep in mind if you're willing to pay the extra retail price at Best buy I would recommend asking what else comes with it as far as possible free geek squad assistance if you ever have issues installing something by yourself or if something technical goes wrong or breaks in something that you purchased. overall I really love Best buy they sell amazing products I've always just had a small issue with the price compared to other places, but my opinion shouldn't affect everyone else's decisions because we all have our own different needs and desires but if anyone asked me I would definitely recommend checking out any Best buy store if they're looking for a quality product. I paid just over $100 more for this Alpine mono amplifier then I could have paid somewhere else, but one thing I was willing to do was pay the difference because I know Best buy doesn't sell knockoff products like you can often find on Amazon and other online sources. I installed it myself to save money because I'm an electrician and I've always installed my own car stereo systems because I have the ability to read line diagrams and I've worked in the electrical industry wiring homes and commercial buildings for 20 years, but not everyone has that experience. I know they only charge around $160 to install a car stereo system for you which is not extremely expensive and you have a lifetime guarantee on all the work they do which is great peace of mind. so I still give them a four out of 5-star rating but compared to a lot of places that are similar to Best buy I consider that a higher...
Read moreSo I have this order from South Salt Lake store. Its a $2,199 gaming PC. The supervisor there was so knowlegeable and nice and gave me all the options and suggestions. He offered me to have my pc financed for 24 months too, since I already have the card.
It is about to arrive and, as I am looking for memory upgrade options, I saw a much better PC with the upgrage that I want and also much cheaper ($1,999) in the bestbuy app.
Since it does not qualify for price match, the phone agent suggested to just return the previous order and order the other one which I did with his help.
I requested for a 24 month financing via online sales agent, they told me that I am not qualified despite having the BB C Card and being a Total Member. The agent even said that the supervisor is at risk of being fired because he let me have a 24 month financing deal.
So I went to Jordan Landing store to clarify and order the new PC that I want (since it is closer to home). At their desk they have these brochures thats says 24 month financing with the card. Initially, there was nobody there to ask for assistance. Until I saw someone who told me someone will be there for me shortly.
The lady came and she's nice but only to some point. I did tell her my concern and told me that I can only have the order financed for 12 months. Then I told her how the other supervisor was able to give me the 24 months (By placing the order and calling citibank after to get approved). I think she's not that familliar with the process so she called someone to help her out.
This guy came, Blond, long hair with sleeve tatoo and told me that they will only do it once for me and will not do it again and I am not supposed to do that (cancelling a 24 month financed item and getting a new one and asking for a 24 month financing) because the store was paying for the interest or something. He told me that I was lucky that I was given a 24 month finance already just for me to cancel.
He was talking in a very cold and belittleing manner. It was like im being scolded for what I did. (Which was actually suggested by the support agent) I felt like asking for the 24 month financing is a very bad request and i really felt humiliated asking for the exact thing in their printed offers on the brochures on the exact same desk where they processed my new order.
The guys at South Salt Lake store are way more welcoming and helpful and they really know the meaning of customer service. I'd go there everytime even if its way farther from home.
I am just trying to avail your offers and get most out of what I am paying for. I dont think I deserve that kind...
