What is it like being a student here?
No problem I can answer that:
Teacher will post that you have an in class assignment.
Then when you get to class will tell you to clear your desk, tell you you cannot cheat, use resources, and must fill in blank answers in written form.
Then get upset when you tell her it's unfair to give students a quiz and call it an assignment.
Assignments are simple or complex tasks (or homework). The moment you are tested on your knowledge it becomes an exam. Ridiculous!
There are also new NCLEX guidelines that none of the instructors have any updated information on. I was told that our cohort was the gunnie pig cohort. Nursing program also charges student over $1,000 on the wrong format books. everyone purchased Lippincott books however had to purchase Saunders books because that is who makes the new NCLEX exam. Just ridiculous.
I also want to point out that if you fail a course you cannot continue until onto the next set of courses until you pass the class you failed. There is one student who waited 8 months to get a class date to retake one class in order to continue the program. If you are a veteran, this means if you fail a course, you will have to wait 8 months to take one class and then receive partial housing entitlements because they will not let you take any of the classes for the next semester.
They at least have a nice veterans study lounge. It is perfect.
I was talked to about this by the acting Dean and this was the summary :
NCLEX guidelines have not changed and is the same itself and it was the universities decision to move away from ATI
Cohort 17 unfortunately the cohort I am in for the nursing program will be left with the burden of the book dilemma and have been told that we will use some of the books we bought as a package in later classes. I will update my review once I can confirm that as well
There are usually 24 seats per class with 2 seats reserved for students that fail a class. The student who waited 8 months was most likely an isolated case. Once you pass the first semester if you fail any other term you should be able to immediately recycle
This still however a downside for those that cannot move onto the next set of course until they pass the class they failed and heavily affects veterans relying on BAH (basic housing allowance) stipends to live on
As far as being part of the Guinee pig class for the new NCLEX test and receiving inaccurate/incomplete/ and random information, the Dean has acknowledged that they are still in the dark and trying to get answers
All in all, I hope this helps someone make a more informed decision on their career path and I hope the following cohorts do not get the same treatment as we did.
They have changed the definition of in class assignment to...
If I could give a negative 15 star rating I would. I am extremely disappointed in Keiser. I decided to visit and apply for the West Palm Beach location because all of my friends had a new negative experience with the Fort Lauderdale campus with the teachers and the financial aid process. I applied to the school and the financial aid process for the summer semester went great. My financial aid advisor Angela said she would follow up with me close to the fall semester to go over my new plan for the core classes. In July I called her and she stated it was too early to meet with her. I would have to wait until August and she will reach out to me. I never heard from her in August. I emailed her to schedule an appointment in mid August. She was not available therefore I met with a different advisor. The first plan we did was wrong! I had to stay after orientation to get the updated plan. Turns out they took my scholarships and loans away that they previously said I would get and signed off on. I was super annoyed and frustrated. The out of pocket total I would have to pay would be a whopping $,8697 out of pocket. Mind you! This is 4 business days before school starts. First payment is due 9/1 and I just got this information on 8/25 at 3:30pm in the afternoon. Plus I have to make monthly payments of $2,200 each month for 4 months on top of rent and other monthly expensive. I’m so disappointed in Keiser. I choose this school and I choose to drive 1 hr and 20 minutes to avoid the Fort Lauderdale location and I’m in the same situation. My new financial advisor Jennifer tried to help me but there was not much she could do. I understand the school is expensive and I knew that when I signed up but this is unacceptable! I wish I could just withdraw from the program and go to another school. They are money hungry and do not care about the students success. This should not have been discussed 4 days before the school semester. They are very unorganized. The only reason why I am continuing with the program is because I already got my books, went part time at work which means my income will not be the same. I strongly feel like they set me up for failure. I would not recommend this school to anyone. All the reviews regarding the money issues are true. I am not looking forward to attending keiser but I have to do what I have to do since I already took out students loans for the...
Read moreIf there was a model for a bad business You found it Here in this review of Kaiser University, Especially notable This is a Business teaching University.
My son visited The Florida West Palm Beach location After His acceptance And found it most suitable to his liking. He was given a beautiful sales pitch And told he could finish In two years As he was entering Is junior year here
This dorm room was picked out his roommates established And he then drove from MA to FL arriving early prior to school start.
Upon meeting with various people regarding His course selections, He was told That he would have to Add two more semesters Because Prior course load he took from previous college Was not acceptable to them To finish in two years Even though they had his transcripts in hand For four months.
How much then is it for two more semesters he asked Only 20K they stated You can Finance it!
When he asked to review the transcripts together They said they lost it and couldn't find it.
He then went to the assistant Dean Stated his position explaining the trip of 1483 miles and $ 1800 spent Could have been avoided And what can he do now? The assistant Dean had no answers Other than spend the 20K And the person who made the mistake Would not acknowledge it.
Finally An honest person who worked Whisped to him Three days before class started That if he Signs a paper stating he was leaving the college today reasoning by tomorrow he would have to pay For a semester's Tuition!
He hastily Return to his dorm room Repacked all the furniture back into his truck, signed paperwork, got a hotel room that night and next day started his 1483 miles journey home heartbroken and disgusted by Keiser due process or lack there of professionalism...
