edit : i got my hair done from a different stylist in texas and the stylist thankfully was able to give me what i wanted but she told me that i had holes in my hair. HOLES!!! and i visibly saw them. DO NOT COME HERE. my hair is split by the holes due to how it was cut.
i scheduled an appointment with alex hoping to treat myself before my birthday. during the consultation on friday (05/02/25), he told me he couldnât do anything to my hair unless i got a treatment first, which cost $160. it caught me off guard, but i agreed. while getting my hair washed, the entire back of my shirt was soakedânot exactly the relaxing, professional service i expected, but i brushed it off because i wore a shirt specifically for hair appointments. the treatment seemed to strip the color decently, and we discussed what he would do at the actual appointment, including a trim and moisture treatment. he also tried to upsell products, which i declined.
monday (05/06/25) was my real appointment, and i showed him clear inspo photos of how i wanted my hair to look. i made it very clear what i was going for, and he kept complimenting my hair during the processâsaying it was âso redâ and âlooking good.â but there were still patches of my natural dark color, and i had already told him my hair only lifts to a level 8/9 with bleach and a slow developer. he acknowledged that during the consultation, so i trusted that he understood how to work with my hair.
he never showed me the full look after the colorâjust a quick glance at the back while it was wet. then he started blow drying it, and i noticed he didnât mention trimming it like weâd talked about. i did tell him blow drying was fine even though i knew it would make my hair frizzy, but the whole process just felt rushed. he started flipping my hair around instead of sectioning it properly, and then randomly said, âlet me fix this side,â and started cutting on one side without evening anything out. thatâs when i reminded him again of the style i wantedâthe same wolfcut iâve had beforeâand showed him actual photos of my hair from last year to help him understand.
my mom came by quickly just to drop off the card i had left at home, and he waited until right after she left to start aggressively cutting my hair dry. it was uncomfortable, and i could feel how uneven and pulled it was. i kept saying things like âoh, i like how this looksâ to gently signal that i didnât want him to keep cutting, but he ignored me completely. he just kept going until my hair looked the way he wanted, not how i asked for. when he finally stopped, my right side was significantly shorter than the left, and the top of my hair was way too short.
i didnât realize just how bad it was until i got home and had time to actually look at it. i ran my hands through my hair and immediately knew it was a messâcompletely uneven, totally disconnected from what i asked for, and incredibly frustrating. i cried to my parents and grandparents because i now have to go into my birthday feeling uncomfortable and self-conscious about how i look.
to make it worse, today (05/07/25), my mom and i returned to the salon to show alex what had happenedânot to cause a scene, just to calmly point it out. instead of listening, he acted like he didnât even know who my mom was, cut her off when she tried to speak, and got defensive. when she told him the service didnât match the $204 (discounted price as he sassily replied to my mother about) price tag, he said, âwell, sheâs not saying anything bad about it,â while i stood there clearly upset.
iâve been bleaching and dyeing my own hair since middle school, and my mom used to help me until i found a stylist i trust back in the dominican republic. i know what my hair needs, and i shouldâve trusted my gut instead of being misled by someone who talked a big game but didnât deliver. between the treatment and the appointment, i spent over $380 (almost $430 if i was charged the full amount) on something i couldâve done better...
Read moreDonna did a nice job with my hair, but I left feeling deceived and disappointed and angry. The male co-owner told me my cost would be $35. When I left the owner said $60 and announced a $20 fee for perhaps five minutes for the flat iron, which nobody mentioned to me that there was a cost. by the way, I travel a great deal and have my hair done everywhere. Everybody touches up with a flat iron, and nobody charges extra in my experience, if there is going to cost and $40 for the blowout when I told her I've been told it would be $35. She should've said "oh of course I will honor that; instead she insisted on the $40. it was a very foolish move because the woman who picked me up is local with 1 million friends and very very involved in the community. she recommended your shop to me, but will will never use this salon again nor will she tell her friends to use the salon. it's very poor form for an entrepreneur who wants to have thriving businesses did you have a customer leave unsatisfied. she should've swallowed five dollars and smiled and said "of course" and she should've swallowed the 20 for the flat iron if she did not announce cost in advance. nobody at any times said that it's $35 and up I don't know what the sign says outside. I saw $35. I didn't know if it says end up but that isn't what the mail owner told me so I think it was foolish for five dollars to have a customer leave feeling miserable and gypped...
Read moreI like the attention to detail on the toes. But, I cannot tell you if it is normal to not get a foot massage and not get a hot towel. This service is pricy. I won't complain about it b/c I wanted to experience this. But, I probably will never go back. I spend 12 hours on my feet per shift at work and it has been at least 3 months since I got a pedicure. The technician was sweet and patient. But, I like the traditional foot massage and hot towel that comes with a pedicure. I did not get that. Yes I got the exfoliator and the lotion on feet but nothing special like other pedicure salons. I wish these ppl well in their business, but I have aching feet b/c of my job. I still tipped the pedicurist 15% of price of service but if I went to a traditional nail salon and did not get the foot massage I was expecting it would be far less of a tip but since this was my first time at a place like this I tipped her for the fine motor movement put into the pedicure cause it is not easy to do what they do. Sigh. I am disappointed. I feel like I got robbed to be honest b/c of the price vs my expectation. Maybe I will find another Russian pedicure place that is way cheaper but I will...
