I have been on "ghost tours " in other cities and let's say I was not pleased with this tour. We stopped at 4 places. There was not much education to the group about orbs or what you could possibly see. The group was way to large and I saw people that joined our group who were asking if this was this or that group and it was very irritating. I saw one family join as we watch who had not paid. Now we also went back n the pirate and witch tour. This ladies tour was much better and the group was now down to about 10 people. It was actually the saving grace. After talking with the local tavern man at 10 pm. ( you can drive on the Main Street in the colonial area at 10 pm) he said" none of the tours are sanctioned by Williamsburg council. There are only a couple that you can go into houses and this is not one of them. Again the ghost and pirate tour was the saving grace. I was contacted by the owner and she informed me that the man that gave us the tour was a professional actor. I did not go on the tour to see a staged presentation. I went on the tour to possibly see a ghost or orbs. We have seen them on other tours in other cities. Now after the tour we went the next day by ourselves to different houses and we got pictures of skeletons looking out of windows,of shadows when there were no people this is what we expected to see on the tour. The man that did the presentation says when he goes into character that he is a ghost so if you like theater shows then this show is for you. After talking with the sheriffs deputy he was more informative than the tour. My wife actually saw ghosts on the street while she was walking. In a "big loud group " you will probably not see a thing so go with a smaller group and...
Read moreInitially, I was excited about this tour. I was one of +25 member party and we got to meet the hostess( Bonnie) . We were asked to meet infront of a cheese shop in downtown. The tour did not start on time, we waited in the light rain and 34 degrees for about 20 mins until the tour started. Bonnie started talking about how a town lunatic, Lucy, is going to come over and take us for the tour. I got excited, this sounds cool. But she just turned around and "became" Lucy. She started talking about how she was upset with the town people for putting her in an asylum and that she wanted us to meet the ghosts. That was by far the best part of the tour ( hence the one star) but after that it was awful. We walked down the street , and stopped in front of 4-5 houses and Bonnie would tell stories about how people died in it. The group was very big, I could barely hear her. We were not allow on the property and could only stand on the street. I guess I was hoping for something more thrilling...
Honestly, I'm confused as to how this tour got really good ratings. If you are looking for a "grandma story telling on the side of the road" kind of vibe then you are at the right place. We did not go into any of the "haunted" houses, there was nothing interesting ( in a spooky way) about the homes she stood in front of. With that being said, if you choose this tour, you will not go into any house, you will be walking on the street listening to stories, make sure the weather is nice, wear comfortable shoes, and don't bring a baby ( I would say maybe 6-7 years old is ok) . I would not repeat this tour nor would I...
Read moreAwesome Experience! Mike was a great guide. He told us a ton of stories, and he's a very animated story teller. He pulled people from the group to illustrate different stories too. My Son got picked to play Calico Jack. 🤣 He shared a few stories in which he said are not part of the usual tour, but he likes them so much he tells them anyway. We also planned on going on a Friday night, we had even bought tickets. There was a SEVERE Thunderstorm, and the site says 'Rain or Shine'. However, because the store was so bad, and it was pouring sideways, Lisa reached out to see if we had kids coming, which we did (our 11yo Son and 7yo Daughter). She was SO kind to allow us to use our reservations another day. We were able to use them on Sunday and it was a beautiful (albeit humid) night. My only recommendation, I wouldn't purchase the ghost detectors. We did not, but others in our group did, and I think they were kinda cheesy. Mike told the group that they will pick up Cellphones as ghosts, and to keep away from phones. That's kinda hard to do in a group of 30ish people where the majority of folks have phones. I do kind of wish we had purchased the ghost necklaces, I though they'd be like glow sticks, so I didn't. But they were actually pretty cute, nice sized light up ghostes. There were several kids on the tour and it was not too spooky for them. Make sure to got to the bathroom beforehand as there are no potty breaks. But also, if it's a muggy night bring water. We did not see the pirate either, but that's ok, maybe next time.🙂. Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend this tour. Fun, educational, and...
