This will be a lengthy review, so that other athletes serious about prevention or recovery can effectively assess where to spend their time and money. I’ve been trying to find a good massage therapist since I moved here 5 years ago, and haven’t been impressed by anyone.
I am about hard data, science and facts. No crystals or chakras for me. I quiz my providers on basic anatomy/physio during sessions and am a stickler about phrases like “energy” or “toxins” used as a foundation of understanding for treatment. I don’t tolerate hand-wavy explanations that are surrogates for “I don’t actually understand what I’m doing.” Lucy did a great job displaying her fluency with human anatomy and physiology.
I spent my 20’s doing a lot of adventure racing and ultraendurance events. I’m in my mid 30’s now. I have an old injury (10+ years ago) from deadlifting (torn sacroiliac joint), and chronic patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) for the last 5 years. The PFPS is very severe, and when it flares up it’s absolutely crippling. I can’t get out of bed and can barely walk around the house, it’s some of the most severe pain I’ve ever felt. To be clear, it definitely isn’t gaut, and is triggered by physical activity.
I’ve been doing combinations of weightlifting, calisthenics, running and swimming the last few years along the lines of what a tactical/combat athlete would. My past injuries have been major limitations lately.
My first session with Lucy was 2 hrs, to give her a fair shot at assessing my body. The time was spent alternating between trigger point work and micropulse neurostimulation (MPS/NS); similar to a TENS unit but with DC current instead of AC current.
The trigger point work was legit. Some therapists are mild sadists, but Lucy had no interest in having me in pain and let me dictate my limits. A couple of times she stopped or lightened up just because she was feeling my body’s reaction and figured I was trying to just be a tough guy about the pain, particularly my back.
The abdominal work was a significant portion of the time. I’ve spent a lot of time rucking and these last few years sitting at work, so psoas treatment was a must. I haven’t done any rucking yet to see how my knee and back react, I’ll update when I do, but so far I’ve got significantly reduced discomfort with normal activities in these areas. She spent some time massaging the abdominal organs, I recall the liver specifically. Interestingly, I drank the day after and could barely catch a cool buzz on an amount that would normally have me very intoxicated. Correlation is not causation, but it’s possible my liver has had new life breathed into it and is functioning better. This has been the case the last couple times I've imbibed since the massage.
I have some research to do still on the science of MPS/NS, but it was the primary treatment modality for my injury sites, and the only thing specifically on my knee. After the session I could immediately feel it was less aggravated. The next day, I ran a short distance (100 ft) to get through the rain to my car, and when I got there, I realized I felt no pain at all. Hmm, ok, interesting. I did some walking and very light, short-distance (1/8 mile) jogging to test it out. No issues. Previously this would have been enough to keep me down for up to a couple weeks. I will update as I pursue longer distances if I think there’s relevance to treatment.

Read more‼️TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE‼️ Been going back and forth for months just trying to BOOK. She has left me on delivered MULTIPLE times requiring me to to reach out 2/3 times for a response, and playing off my body problems as not good enough for her to work on. I did Marching band for 6 years carrying a 30 pound drum on my shoulders, went through 3 shoulder injuries, and now work as a full time barber standing for 10+ hours a day while still making time for the gym. I have the WORST pain, stiffness, tenderness, and tension all through out my body. Don’t have full rotation of arms, shoulders, and neck. Having hearing problems due to poor neck muscles and daily headaches. Having agility problems with my legs. I have been searching for MONTHS for someone who offers what she does and I thought I finally found the person to help me get back to feeling good again. After 3 months of going back and forth with her JUST TRYING TO BOOK I’m still suffering from body pains, sometimes not being able to stand on my feet for more than an hour, and I have been left on delivered once again. I don’t even leave reviews but due to the just terrible communication skills and just blatant rudeness I was compelled to share my story. I will sadly continue to search for someone who’s actually interested in extending not only physical help but also just...
Read moreI am a professional acrobat and circus artist, I perform full time and train about 30 hours a week. I am constantly trying to find good physical therapists and sports massage to help me take care of my extremely overused body. I’ve lived in Orlando for about 2 years now and I don’t know how I made it that long without knowing about Lucia! I’ve been seeig her for about 3 - 4 months now and the difference in my body and health in general is astonishing. She is not only a great and extremely experienced masseuse but is the most knowledgeable person I’ve been to yet. For me having a good PT or massage therapist is only half the battle, not knowing what my injuries or pains are and finding someone who can help educate me on my body and what’s going on is the other half. Lucia has been so transparent with me on what I am doing to my body and what I need to be smarter about as well as just learning how my muscles work and what I am doing with them, it’s been paramount to me staying healthy and smart in my career and training. She also does such a great job of making me feel comfortable and relaxed when I am with her. I personally recommend her to anyone who is serious about taking care of their body and enjoying the process. My wife now sees her as well on a monthly basis and feels the same...
