I am a loyal Winn Dixie customer and have been for over 30 years however, after yesterday that may be changing. I purchased some fresh cod from the seafood department only to get home open it and found that they had sold me spoiled fish. When I went to return the fish there was no one in the service line and no one behind the desk. I waited patiently while i noticed two employees having a casual conversation, I did not interrupt. I continued to wait. As I was about to ask the two employees could someone call for an attendant they stopped talking and I thought the young lady (Brittany) was coming over to the service desk. However, instead she went to go and put the hand basket away and then proceeded to organized the weekly ads before walking over to the service desk. Not wanting to keep waiting I asked her if she was the person working at the desk. When she confirmed I asked her why she chose to ignore me standing there, were the papers more important that acknowledging that I was there and she said yes and that Travis (the person assisting the cashier) could have helped too but he didn't. I completed my return and asked for the name of the manager on duty and as I was leaving the store I witnessed the manager (Thomas), Brittany and one of the cashiers snickering and making snide remarks about the situation. I drive past Publix to support my local Winn Dixie but the poor customer service is not worth it. I much rather go where the extra 5 or 10 cent guarantees a great customer experience. Something should be done about the way they treat the customers at...
Read moreNice little Winn-Dixie with friendly staff. Have been shopping at this Winn-Dixie for many years while living in Altamonte.
Pros: Friendly cashiers. The people who are packing out freight(stocking shelves) are helpful if you ask them questions. Store manager has always been friendly, professional and is frequently up front near the entrance shopping area greeting customers, while also staying on top of delegating what needs to be done to maintain the store. If the store is short staffed he doesn't hesitate to go outside and consolidate shopping carts. (Very humble & respectable) Clean store overall. The few times I've used the public restroom at this location, it was very clean, which is no easy task to keep up with when it only takes one person to mess up the bathroom. Considering how many less employees they have to work with than other stores, especially compared to Publix, you can tell it is being run efficiently.
Cons: No pharmacy. (Believe it used to have one many years ago). It is a smaller store in a densely populated area, so many of the sale items are not available just a few days into a good BOGO sale and it really does make a difference since they still are not providing rain checks.
Overall I'd say 4.5⭐. I wanted to give them 5, but for an honest rating I had to take one off for the things I regularly encounter, like poor selection of certain brand specific items and lack of availability for certain...
Read moreCheck the expiration dates on everything! 4 different times I have purchased items either directly or using a grocery delivery service and I ended up with wildly out of date items.
Specifically dairy and deli items.
One spreadable cheese was so spoiled it was bubbly and breaking itself down. It was expired by nearly a month. The next time I went to this Winn Dixie, I checked for more and every single one was out of date. And everytime I go back, I look at the label and find different out of date ones.
The potato salad from the deli that should have been fresh because of the time I shopped smelt and tasted of rancid bacon. I've purchased before so I know what it usually tastes like
I ended up with food poisoning from one item.
So just keep aware and I suggest taking any expired items to customer service so we can help them remedy this issue. The employees are incredibly nice but need to keep up with food quality.
I still shop here because it's so conveniently located but I'd definitely like to see the care and quality go...
