Me and one of my best friends just happened to be at the Target in Altamonte when we genuinely were getting dizzy with hunger. I just looked up food in the area, we both looked at the menu for Token Ramen, liked the generally positive reviews, and decided to give it a try.
When I say the food was so good that every five minutes after we left and walked around, we would stop and just say “damn… that was some good ramen,” I’m not kidding. I also ordered the gyoza (pan-fried!) and she ordered the takoyaki. I’m not a fan of octopi but she liked it! We both loved the gyoza and she said next time, she’d prefer we just order that and share.
She got the Tonkotsu ramen (no egg, she’s allergic) and I got the Black Garlic ramen. I was hesitant because the first and only time I had tried Black Garlic ramen was in a random place in Atlanta and it was so salty, I thought I was going to dry OUT.
But it was DELICIOUS from Token. Amazing flavoring, the pork was delectable and juicy, and the fact I could take or switch add-ins out (I took out the pickled ginger and bean sprouts but added in corn) is a definite bonus. I am often unable to finish bowls of ramen but me and my best friend both devoured our bowls. Maybe we were just that ravenous, but it was all incredibly delicious. I already let one of my other friends know that I will take her there as well.
We were so hungry that neither of us took photos before we ate everything haha but I took a picture of our empty bowls and plates after 🤣 just to show how truly delicious everything was.
The atmosphere itself was cozy. It’s a smaller spot but not cramped. The service was quick, staff were kind and knowledgeable, and it was cool learning from the man that took our payments (and we think ended up waiting on us as our original waitress seemed to had gone on break) about how the location only just opened last September. I highly recommend trying this place out! I wish Altamonte was a closer drive for me, as I live in Kissimmee, but I would make the drive to eat here again and especially since a lot of my friends live...
Read moreI found out about this restaurant from Google and I'm glad I did. My husband and I ordered to-go (I have issues in-house due to a stomach condition) the Black Garlic Ramen and the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and it was still amazing by the time we got home with it ~20 minutes later. For those skittish about ordering takeaway ramen, they separate the broth from the ingredients so nothing winds up too soggy as a result. We also got the takoyaki and two drinks (Honey Lemonade with Lychee Jelly at 100% sweetness and the Lychee Green Tea at 50% sweetness).
Starting with the drinks, my husband's Honey Lemonade packed a punch, but he likes it like that so it was perfect for him, whereas I'm a bit sensitive to overly sweet drinks, so I took my Lychee Green Tea at half strength which made it just right for me. The drinks also come in nice, plastic cups with resealable lids so you don't have to worry about spillage while driving.
Moving onto the ramen. The ramen was phenomenal. The pork was so tender you didn't have to chew it to pull it apart. The broth in both were flavorful, and there were so many nice little add-ins like the ginger, bamboo, and kikurage, that kept your palate from getting tired of anything while you ate without it overtaking the main flavor of the dish. They also give you a lot of food.
The takoyaki was also very good. We enjoyed the sauce that it came with. These are part of their appetizer menu if you want to try them.
Overall, a wonderful place to eat. The atmosphere is comfortable, the staff are friendly and helpful. 10/10 would eat...
Read moreVisit: December 27th, 2024 Girlfriend and I were in town to try out this place. I was traumatized by my previous ramen experience (different restaurant) and I ordered extra noodles here -which, you don't have to.. noodles are sufficient. As for the flavor, I got to try 2 broths and my girl's curry ramen... Out of the 3, the curry is best (hands down).. Let this be a warning over the Tonkatsu lovers.. regular one takes like... bleh... 2nd one tastes like... a "scent" rather than a flavor. Out of everything we tried, the gyoza (friend)was the least flawed.. flavor, serving all in all was worth the buy... The takoyaki is missing that "square octopus/squid" feel... but, flavor is there and it's not greasy... not bad. the fried chicken was recommended but nothing to rave about.. not greasy, but just regular friend chicken... It would have been better if they offered stuff like 'snow chicken' or something.. cause literally, they are as plain as they can get. boba drinks were survivable... this place if more of a 3.5 than a 3, so 4 for now should be good. This is for me, so I know what to order next time... oh, lots of parking, and bathroom is clean.. advice to others, if you want, ask the waiter/server to give you a sample of the broth -this way you know what to order. suggestion for the manager/owner, allow customers (especially new ones) to try your broths for your ramen -this way they end up being...
