I have been here three times in 2018 and loved it every time I went. They have a great dog park and nice walking trails. There's a fenced area for big dogs, and a separate fenced area for smaller dogs. They have a bathroom in the middle for humans. There are drinking stations for the dogs which are available in the summer months. There is a station with dog poop bags and the dog owners are great about picking up their dog's poop. The ground surface is wood chips. There are a few bins that were built by Girl Scouts that hold some toys you can throw for your dog. There's ample parking, with a rocky gravel surface. My family also likes to come here for the walking trails. The trails are stroller friendly, and you could probably do a wheelchair as well. But there is a bridge with a long slope so you would have to be able to control it on the way down and up. Also, if bringing a wheelchair, the ground surface in the parking lot is near impossible to push one through, so the poeson would have to be able to walk a few steps on gravel, or be carried a few feet to get from the car to the sidewalk. On the walking trails, after you get over the bridge you can go left to walk the paved trail towards I 92. Or you can go right to walk the paved trail towards Woodstock. The trail towards 92 is pretty flat. The trail towards Woodstock has a steep incline for the last quarter mile before you get downtown. We have used this as a alternative parking option for downtown Woodstock events. We park at woofstock dog park and walk a little over a mile along the trail to get downtown. It's a pleasant walk and shaded for more than 50% of the way. This park has multiple things to offer, and I recommend everyone come...
Read moreWhen I lived in an Atlanta suburb, I frequently took my dog Joey to the Woofstock Dog Park. While I also liked the Kennesaw Dog Park, the advantage of Woofstock is it is not part of a larger park, but only the dog park and walking trails (very nice). Only people with dogs frequent this dog park. Everyone knows and adheres to the rules. Many of the people there are regulars and get to know one another.
Kennesaw Dog Park, by contrast, is part of a very large park with a playground, picnic areas, walking trails, and skatepark. So parents with kids and kids by themselves who do not have a dog in the park go into the dog park as a form of entertainment.
Kids will leave both gates open and if someone tries to instruct them on the rules and how leaving the gates open is dangerous to the dogs, the parents will sometimes get upset. ? Some of them don't seem to get that the dog park is about the dogs and not their kids. There's a very nice playground in this park. I once saw a couple of kids repeatedly go back and forth between the small dog area and the big dog area, leaving the gates open. One of the large dogs got out; luckily he was caught him before he went very far.
There were also instances when I was at the Kennesaw Dog Park where an owner would bring in an aggressive dog and refuse to correct or remove the dog. I know of a couple times where security had to be called.
Woofstock Dog Park doesn't seem to have any of these issues. It's a great place for dog lovers to bring their fur babies to run with other dogs and the owners to get to know...
Read moreI actually just parked here so I could walk the path. I wanted to make a point to mention this, as to to give my thanks, to the city of Woodstock and all others that may have been responsible for funding and building of this path. I lived in Woodstock for almost 40 years. Then about 8 years ago I moved away and moved back about 9 months ago. I must have driven across that bridge on hwy 92 everyday since I've been back, but never noticed the path (next to dunkin' donuts) until a couple of months ago. It took google earth to figure out where to park. So I had the day off today, the weather was beautiful, I needed a walk and mostly curiosity brought me to the park. I had the most wonderful walk. The wide paved walkway is mostly flat and gently curves back and forth next to a Noonday creek. I estimate to be One and a half to two miles. If you're new to Woodstock looking to get a little exercise, or needing something to do that doesn't cost anything, I recommend this walkway. It runs parallel with Noonday Creek. If interested, you can park at the Woodstock Dog park (plenty of free parking). You can easily find the entrance right next to fenced in area where...
