Hands down one of the best gyro sandwiches I have had from anywhere in the country. This is one of my favorite sandwiches and meals, so that's saying a lot! Gyro Aegean Grill is just off the busy downtown Woodstock area in a strip shopping center. This is my kind of place! Not too fancy inside or out.. JUST GET INSIDE AND EAT! When you walk in, you notice that they have a pretty busy take out business. Plenty of spots for large parties and lots of spacious booths. Even an outdoor area. We were greeted immediately, and every person working there (I swear) said hello. We were immediately comfortable. We ordered a couple of apps, the hummus, and Falafel. Loved both! The pita really shines here too! The falafel were pressed flat. I like them that way for dipping. Nice and crispy with plenty of flavor! The hummus was excellent too. Did I mention how awesome the pitas were?? All of us ordered the gyros. I ordered "the Largest and Best Gyro" from the menu. The name says it all, and they are 100% correct to call it that! The gyro meat was more shaved than I have had before and piled HIGH! I added feta cheese which when mixed with the tzatziki sauce was so creamy and delicious. My side of fries were fresh and crispy and it came with an extra side of tzatziki. This was a mountain of food and I will crave this meal no doubt! Add this place to your list of what to try in Woodstock!! GET HERE for the Largest and Best Gyros!! Best in...
Read moreI took my friend to lunch today and decided to try the new Greek Restaurant off town lake, (the one near J. Millers if you are heading into down town from Towns lake pkwy and Eagle Dr.) that has just opened within the last week or so. We got there as soon as they open. And I was inspecting it to be fair, however, It was more than I thought it would be. Coming from Chicago and not having any Greek, really Greek restaurants in the area, I was impressed with the service. The owner came to talk to us because we told the waitress it was are first time in their establishment. The Gyro's were very good, although I wish the Tzaliki Sauce was a bit more on the cucumber side or zestier, (But Still Good.) The Lemon Potatoes where amuse. I would recommend this place to everyone if you like Greek food. I will try the Saganaki the next time. So please try this restaurant out. You may be very surprised at the food and the prices. I...
Read moreGreat food at an affordable price! We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. We were greeted and seated right away. The restaurant, including the restrooms, was very clean! All of our dishes were wonderful in flavor and piping hot, so it seemed to be freshly cooked. The gyro meat was so tender and wonderfully flavorful. The chicken kabobs were cooked perfectly and actually had nice sized pieces of chicken. The salad was fresh, and the dressing was SO good! The prices were reasonable, especially considering how pricey most restaurants are these days. The only complaint I could possibly think of was the seating. The entire restaurant was empty when we arrived. However, as people came in, they were seated right next to us. If the restaurant was empty, it would have been nice to have a little more privacy since other seating was available. We would definitely...
