Spartan Boutique in a beautiful setting
This is a charming and peaceful retreat nestled in the heart of Patagonia. The family-run establishment exudes warmth and hospitality, making it an ideal base for exploring the breathtaking surroundings. The sleek design with its wood and glass elements blends beautifully with the Patagonian landscape. It's clear they've put thought into creating a luxurious basecamp for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. However, given the spartan vibe it comes with, the price we paid for it seemed way too steep! But I believe that is understandable given the season we visited it in.
LOCATION:The location is absolutely perfect - just at the edge of town with unobstructed views of Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. I loved being able to start my hikes directly from the hotel, yet still being close enough to walk to restaurants and shops in the center of El Chaltén within 5-10 minutes.
DINE + DRINK: The breakfast spread was impressive with high-quality local ingredients - fresh pastries, eggs made to order, and excellent coffee. Though they dont have a full on bar, the outside lawn area is cozy and perfect for unwinding after a day of hiking, and comes with million dollar views of the mountains

Read moreKau Si Aike really made me feel it’s a home away from home. Stayed here 5 nights and first impressions from check in to entering the room were good. I liked the room, good size, very practical and functional furnishings, good temperature to feel cosy. Most of all, the hospitality of the hosts was wonderful. They gave big smiles whenever they saw you coming back, fussed over us during breakfast, and that’s another story. Not only you get home baked bread and cakes or pies for breakfast, Patricia will toast the bread and served us. There’s an egg in the way you want, a slice each of ham and cheese and a cup of fruit salad. In El Chalten, everyone will turn out on the dot at 8am for breakfast, but even at the morning peak hours, Patricia’s warmth and enthusiasm shine. Even when she is tired, she told us that she loves her job. When you leave and head to other accommodations, then you really miss the time at Kau Si Aike, there’s nothing more touching than genuine...
Read moreThis is off the main centre, so you have to walk a bit further ti the hiking start routes but the good thing is that it is quiet and everything you need is next door. It is closer to the bus terminal too. Rooms are clean and they have excellent beds which helps after the long hikes. Nico and Patricia are awesome as they are attentive to all your needs. Breakfast is included and is perfect for the long hikes as it contains protein, simple and complex carbohydrates. Rooms are also well heated which helps with the cold weather. Only thing I would like to see improved is the lighting. All the lights use the super white lighting you see in hospitals and dentists. Makes the room...
