When we arrived we were greeted by a lady who seemed more interested in checking her handphone than in settling us in. When we asked her for the starting point of one of the main trekking routes she said in a blasé way that she did not know, and directed us to the bus station, which was closed by then. It's not as if we were asking her for obscure facts about El Chalten. The town thrives on the tourism brought by the treks, so ignorance in this regard was eyebrow-raising to say the least. But the lure of her handphone proved irresistible. ||The room was small and cosy, and the breakfast spread palatable. However, vitally, there was no hot water OR cold water even from the shower heads from the time we checked in at 9pm till the time we left at 9am. There was a trickle of cold water from the faucet / tap at the basin. When we informed one of the ladies at the reception all she said was, "There is no water in town-- try tomorrow." Which is disconcerting. So no shower the whole time we were there, or for the people in the other two rooms. (When we asked other tourists we met about the water situation at their lodging they said there was water, so....) When we lodged a complaint at 5pm the next day, another lady apologised, but said it's not their fault. No...

They kept the place and the room incredibly clean, and they included shampoo, conditioner which was a plus! I haven't missed TV during our travels, but with some bad weather/rest days we watched a ton of the movies they have in their library. They have plenty of English movies. ||The room is small, so if you travel with lots of luggage it might not be a great fit. It would be great if the room had more hooks for hanging stuff. We also tired of the breakfast as it was the same cakes and jam each day. However it was nice to get ham and cheese. ||Overall we had...
Read moreI do not recommend it. The food was mostly bad (the steak came raw although we have asked medium) and the beer, although it was not bad, was extremely hoppy not respecting the expectations that each style would impose. The food was overpriced even when considering the location.
The service was not good. A positive point is that the environment is incredible, it includes some really interesting pictures of important settlers of the region.
For food I would recommend Bourbon, and for drinks either Bourbon on happy hour (as of today 16 - 20 pm)...
