LENGAS — Local services in El Chaltén

Terrible experience. I booked a roundtrip transfer to and from El Chalten with Las Lengas. Upon arrival in El Calafate, I went to the counter to confirm my arrival and transfer. I paid and was told that the shuttle would depart in 30 minutes. Thinking I had time, I went to the ATM in the terminal to get some cash. I returned after 5 minutes, and found that the driver had already loaded the shuttle. There was barely enough room for me, my husband, and our bags (the trunk was already full, so we rode with our trekking packs in our laps and other bags in the passenger seat next to the driver). I confirmed with the driver and again with the company via email the scheduled return trip. Pick-up was scheduled for 11AM at our hotel. The driver showed up 30 minutes late at 11:30AM, with a full van - he took one look at me and my husband, shook his head, and simply said "No." We tried to negotiate - but the driver told us to walk across town to the bus terminal to sort it out with the counter and drove away. My husband and I carried all of our luggage to the terminal and were scheduled for the next available shuttle - 2 hours later. As we had already paid for the return trip, we decided to wait. Thankfully, we did not have a flight to catch. While waiting, we ran into our friend who'd had a flawless experience with El Chalten Transfers. Based on his recommendation (and my own brief experience talking to their representative), I would highly recommend them to anyone considering a transfer to/from El Chalten and around...

TENGAN MUCHO CUIDADO AL UTILIZAR ESTE TRANSPORTE!!. Tienen una especie de Monopolio en el traslado entre el aeropuerto del Calafate y El Chalten y, gracias a ello, se sienten dueños de a quien le quieren vender y a quien no lo quieren vender pasajes.

En mi caso particular, volviendo del Lago del Desierto, se rompió la camioneta y perdí mi pasaje de las 19:00hs. Cuando llame para informarlo y pedir un nuevo pasaje, les pedí si podían tener alguna consideración (ya que en el Lago del Desierto no hay señal) y me dijeron que no. Cosa que no compartía pero me pareció que estaba bien porque entraba en las políticas de la empresa. Al querer comprarles un nuevo pasaje para las 04:00am, me atendió el dueño de la empresa haciéndose pasar por el de la limpieza (esto lo descubrí al dialogar con las recepcionistas del hostel, y que estas me informen que en la terminal la limpieza va a la mañana. Pueblo chico se conocen todos) y me dijo que ya habían cerrado, a sabiendas de que son la única empresa que me podía transportar. Entonces a las 04:00 am, me fui hasta la entrada del pueblo, espere a la camioneta, la pare, y le solicite al chofer que por favor me lleve en uno de los tantos lugares que tenía vacíos. Yo le quería comprar un pasaje, y si no viajaba con el perdía mi vuelo. Pero arranco y me dejo en la calle gritándome que estaba loco por pedirle que me lleve y que los pasajes se compraban en el local (cuando estaba cerrado). Vuelvo al hostel a dormir hasta las 10 y pensar como podía resolver la situación y me cruzo a otro huésped que sale corriendo diciéndome que lo había dejado pagando el chico de la trafic (era la misma de LAS LENGAS, otra no hay). Me explico que preguntaron por el en recepción, el se demoro 15 minutos en bajar y cuando bajo ya no estaba.

Asique bueno, es una opinión nada mas. Pero tengan cuidado y esten atentos porque tiran siempre hacia su favor en esta...

This has been my worst „private“ transport in whole South America: I went from El Calafate bus station to El Chaten. 1.5h late arrival without notice or reason, slow, unnecessary stop on the way. I have been traveling South America for months, which taught me patience - but a 1.5h delay for „private“ service never happened and is just not acceptable. Never again! Avoid „Las Lengas transport“ and take the much more punctual and comfortable (and cheaper) normal bus transfer!! (which btw also waits for transfer passengers whose buses are delayed due to border crossing times between Chile...
