from the moment I got to Yerevan, the airport, the taxis and the food, I got scammed due to my family and I not being local and not knowing the ways and the prices out of town. We later found out on our trip that all three facilities asked for $10+ dollars for their services. However, from the moment I got to this hotel, I just automatically felt safe. We were greeted by a very kind host, Earnest on our first day. Although our reservation was from 2 pm, we got there 6 hours earlier and he was able to accommodate with our situation and he gave us an interim hotel room where we got to freshen up till our permanent(for the trip) room was ready.
The hotel is located on the northern street which intersects with the glamorous Yerevan city walk area which has tons and tons of food courts and shopping stores. everything that you wanted was within walking distance. Approximately 10 minutes walk to the republic square. 30 seconds walk to a restaurant Cafe near the hotel (Vienna Cafe) and 2 minutes away from Burger King and approximately 3 minutes away from a pizza place(Tashir Pizza).
The hotel did not provide complimentary breakfast. However, they did provide breakfast for only 5000 drams/per person. You would get %20 off if you paid for breakfast up front. While this may seem a bit expensive compared to other food places in Yerevan, I can tell you that the food was absolutely amazing. One of the reasons we didn't go outside of the hotel to get food is 1 because people would mistreat us and give us wrong prices due to us not being local and plus, I found a great number of people in the city very very rude. And they would purposefully take much longer to serve us our food, the check and the cash back. but the hotel breakfast was amazing. The staff working in the breakfast area were just absolutely amazing!!! While we were without grandparents, and at times they got there earlier, they treated them well and helped them around by bringing them tea or some of the hot plates so that they wouldn't burn themselves. The food was also very amazing. It was all you can eat self-service.
The hotel lobby was also a great place for all of us to get together. While my family and I were in Armenia for distance destination wedding, We were able to get together in the hotel area with our other cousins from outside of the hotel every single day till late hours. The music was playing, food and drink were always being served. and the hotel lobby had modern art all over its red white and black walls which made the lobby look just a lot cooler than it already was.
While I was not a great fund of the police in the city given I witnessed someone actively put fire in the huge city trash can and the police were standing just next to it smoking cigars and being on his phone and he didn't even do anything. another incident when I was lost in the streets with a couple of friends, at 12 am with no sim card in my phone, I stopped by a police car and I asked them how I can get to my hotel room, the police literally looked at each other and rolled up the window. However, in the hotel room, I felt really safe given there was always security standing in front of the doorway. the hotel rooms themselves were also very properly locked and you also had a safe and signs stating that you don't want people (maids) entering your room. and they really did comply with your wishes and didn't enter your room.
However, due to hotel protocols, your room did have to get cleaned every three days which I think shows that the hotel is well managed and actually cares about hygiene which is a very important element when it comes to deciding where to go in...
Read moreI was booking at another hotel, but when I arrived I was welcomed with the worst attitude, & with many dowsides, I left & moved to Ibis. When I called them by phone to check the price & availability, they greatly welcomed us.
We then left the other hotel & moved to Ibis. They offered us a great room with early check-in & a discounted rate. Even the reservation manager Mrs Marina met us & greatly welcomed us & apologized for the bad experience we faced upon our first day even it's not at their place & not their mistake, but this clearly showed how welcoming & great hospitality they offer. They also offered extra discount when they knew we had to pay cancellation fees at the other hotel, which was a very good gesture from their side.
Our stay at Ibis then was more than perfect & the room was exceptionally clean, just a bit small in size which was not a problem for us. The in-room safe is big which accomodates a business laptop. The standard room doesn't include a kettle which was not a problem as they peovided one once we asked for it. There no iron in the room however there is an ironing room in the hotel.
The location is super, in the heart of northern avenue, & 3 minutes walking to republic square, also about 4 minutes walking to Opera square.
Many nearby supermarkets with everything you would need, all of them are open 24 hours, with one right across the street, & another one 2 minutes walking which also includes money exchange with good rates. Many restaurants & cafes right in front of the hotel. Many coffee machines also at the place if you want to enjoy coffee while walking in the streets.
The only downside I believe is the breakfast which is a bit overpriced, we didn't try it as we had breakfast at the nearby cafes.
Very special thanks for the housekeeping team for their great work as the room was super clean. Also for the reservation team & reception staff for their great hospitality.
Definitely 100% recommended. & of course would be our option if we...
Read moreHappy enough that I booked another three nights in the same room, 921. Plugs by the bed, which is quite comfortable. TV has a couple of English channels. Good shower water pressure and gel/shampoo dispenser in shower. Room is a comfortable temperature and is SILENT. Practically don’t hear ANY street noise despite being overlooking buzzy Yerevan. Hotel itself also has excellent soundproofing. Wifi is excellent for a business traveler to use Zoom, email and surf the Web and for personal reasons like uploading photos and social media. People have complained on the room size and yes it’s small, but I’m fine with that. Just don’t pack a lot of stuff! Hotel claims to recycle bottles and cans in lobby but I’m skeptical, as the receptacles are really large trash bags. Also wish there were more consistent recycling for other products like paper and aluminium for such a large hotel chain.
Hallway smelled like stale body odor when I checked in. It’s gone two days later though. Messaging on Booking.com is slow. Also the policy of charging for a half-day check-in after 6AM only makes sense if say, you arrive at 8AM. But what if you arrive at say 2pm (check-in at 3pm). That charge is just insane. Towels a bit threadbare. No top sheet, only a duvet so alternately hot and cold...
