Have been here quite a few times and have always had a nice experience. Today's lunch, not so. Garlic bread - overcooked/hard/burnt. Mum had seafood basket - terrible. Crumbed fish was like cardboard, way overcooked and ridiculously dry. Battered prawns were extremely battered! We have had this before and today's was no comparison. I ordered crumbed prawn cutlets which comes with avocado Greek salad, I also asked for tartare sauce as I didn't want the seafood cocktail sauce it comes with (have always preferred cocktail sauce with fresh seafood, not cooked). Came out with cocktail sauce, I asked if I could have tartare to which the waitress replied that the cocktail sauce is made specifically for that dish, but if I don't like it she can get me tartare. With that, she walked off. Other waitress came over and came back with tartare. Salad - old. NO avocado as stated, lettuce mix - Very old and wilted, some leaves were actually yellow. Now, our wines. 2 sauvignon blanc ordered. Quite hilarious as they were EXTREMELY uneven to the point I laughed. You do get a complimentary glass of wine with lunch, however we did order a second and same thing happened. Never given a 2nd glass of water, to my knowledge, never got asked how our meals were. Paid the bill of $84 and still can't get to that amount- 2 house specials, 2 complimentary wines, 2 purchased wines and one garlic bread. No idea. 👎 quite frankly, service was very average and communication not good, food so disappointing it's not funny. Looking forward to a nice day out, chose wrong place for lunch. Won't be back. Wish I'd...
Read moreOverall 3 stars but after this experience I don’t think I’ll consider coming back.
It wasn’t my original choice for dinner but I thought it seemed a safe enough option to satisfy the fussier eaters in our group. Well the kids left happy after their $12 kids meal featuring various fried things and chips, but us adults had an expensive yet ultimately unfulfilling meal.
We specifically asked the wait staff about the platter portions and was told that the sea & shore platter would easily feed 4 adults. Priced at $205, this comes with what sounds like a decent amount of food: 2 pork skewers, 2 chicken skewers, 2 lamb cutlets, 2 2gm[sic] eye fillets, 4 king prawns & 2 Moreton Bay bugs served with garlic sauce, chips, and Greek salad. All the components were there so I’m not saying anything was missing, however the portions weren’t what I’d call generous, with the salad and chips in particular being barely enough for 1, maybe 2 at a stretch. Whilst the food was generally ok flavour wise, there simply wasn’t enough of it to feed 4.
Thus I can only recommend this place if you enjoy being hungry after...
Read moreUsually I enjoy the menu at Sea and Shore but not last night. I ordered the dozen grilled scallops in half shells for $48. I was presented with Surumi seafood bites and no scallops to be seen. The artificial "scallops" were both tough and tasteless. Texture and taste were not remotely that of a scallop. Needless to say I refused to pay for the "scallops". The person to whom I related my disappointment stated that scallops were out of season and the fake scallops were the replacement. I stated in strong terms that the menu misrepresented scallops and was illegal. I stated that like other seasonable items, when they are unavailable they a are off the menu. No restaurant with integrity substitutes a very cheap fake item for the real thing. An artificial seafood substitute should never be served as an option in any commercial kitchen. If it is it should be clearly stated and priced accordingly. To do otherwise is intended to deceive the...
