The Story Bar — Restaurant in Hobart

This would have to be my favourite bar in Hobart. It's a great spot by the water with great views. But what made it was the staff. Matteo and Rachel were extremely kind. They chatted with us and gave us testers of different wines and made us feel extremely welcomed. I have not found service in a hotel/bar combo quite like that of The Story Bar and Macq1. Matteo brought us up a free bottle of wine for my birthday just because we were talking about what types we like! Service like that is unheard of in Australia! Very impressed. Will be back...

Beautiful building, decor and view and great service. My main issue is the food cost and serving size. We ordered 2 servings of scallops and were assured they were appropriate to share but we got 3 scallops per serve at $10 and they were about the size of a 5 cent piece making everyone embarrassed to actually take one and us embarrassed to pass them around! My wife and I enjoyed an evening meal in the relaxing environment of the Story Bar lounge. The flames of the gas fire, the view of the harbour and the dimmed lighting were very conducive to unwinding from the busy work day. The food: My wife enjoyed her beef Burger meal.
