Our base for 1N stay @ Hallstatt in late Oct, 5min walk to funicular station / town centre, 2min from Hallstatt Lahn bus stop (for those headed back to Salzburg), and kinda situated before the start of the town.
There were only 3 or 4 rooms, all with modern furnishings, overlooking the lake, with plenty of space for luggage (2 XL ones not an issue!). B&B main door and room door accessed via code. Toilet and shower are separated.
When we arrived earlier around 2pm, we were lucky to bump into the host (who was getting the rooms ready for check-in at 3pm).
Pros Lounger next to windows for quiet moments with lake view. Goose and mandarin ducks are aplenty. Excellent control of water temp / pressure, with rainshower and handheld. Simple but hearty breakfast in room (couple of timings to choose from eg 7.30am / 8am / 8.30am, you need to be awake by then). Heating rack was working very well, and easy to operate (controls @ bottom left). Windows can be opened in full (pull up!), or left slightly ajar (for fresh air).
Cons No reception / lobby, B&B access is via code from host via email, so tough luck in case you arrive early and wants to leave your luggage there to start wandering. Shower room door opens out and drips too much water over the floor (towels given aren't enough), quite a danger for elderly / with kids. Breakfast came with order of eggs done your preferred style, but both scrambled eggs and sunny side up orders were more omelette (which probably explains, IMHO, why the B&B had a rather low rating, as diners were rating the B&B low due to the brasserie food quality).
Highly recommend as base to explore Hallstatt. And remember to book the salt mine tours cum skywalk ahead of time (as tours are limited), and somehow, they do not offer funicular only rides via online booking, and neither do they offer the ride only after 3pm (only bundled together with salt mine, which needs to be booked in advance). Otherwise, go to the station @ 9am (opening time), you can get funicular ride (return basis) during the earlier...
Read moreThis cozy lakeside retreat is an absolute gem in Hallstatt! With only three rooms, it offers a private and intimate experience, and the location is unbeatable—right on the lake with breathtaking views. The rooms are warm, clean, and incredibly cozy, perfect for relaxing after exploring the picturesque town. One of the highlights was watching swans glide right up to the window, which felt like a scene from a fairy tale. The owner’s hospitality was exceptional; when I missed breakfast, they kindly packed me a sandwich to take along. It truly exceeded my expectations and made me wonder why the ratings on some platforms don’t fully reflect how amazing it is. Considering the stunning location, personalized service, and reasonable price, this is easily one of the best stays...
Read moreThis place is just amazing, I think this is the best hotel you can book in Hallstatt - right on the water, with huge windows overlooking the lake and the Hallstatt itself, excellent viewpoint from the other side of the village. The place is very modern but still very cozy, beautifully decorated, you have everything you need for a wonderful stay. The breakfast in the room next to the big widows, overlooking the beautiful scenery- is something I will never forget. Location of the B&B is also perfect- in a walking distance to the village center but far enough to be a great viewpoint overlooking the village and a perfect spot for THE picture. 10 min walking distance from the P1 parking garage. Self service check in was...
