Came here today whilst on a tour and would have really liked to have had longer time sightseeing and exploring Hallstatt for myself I chose to do the skywalk after reading great reviews and seeing magnificent photos of this hotspot I was sceptical about going at the wrong time as I know its flooded with tourists in the peak seasons like summer so chose my dates carefully as I didn't want to be one of those annoying tourists that gets on the locals nerves Spent 1hr 20 mins here but could've easily sat at the top of the forest all day admiring the views The weather is changeable it started off raining lightly then turned foggy, cloudy and finally became sunny at midday when I was trying to capture some decent pics The price is €22 for entrance to the observation deck you ride a funicular cable car which saves you walking up a steep slope and gets you there in less than 5 minutes You have to wait 10-20 for the next cable car and they have a timetable electronically and poster form of when the first and last rides are of each day If you want to avoid the mad rush of tourists in winter and summer season I'd recommend going mid week early in the morning as it's quiet then They change the opening hours each season from what I've read I thought the price was a bit expensive for such a short journey to the skywalk but its a world heritage site so I guess they're trying to preserve the area as much as possible It's spotless there are free toilets half way up the forest between the skywalk and salt mine When you begin the skywalk where you walk in and see the entrance/exit by the gift shop in the visitor centre toilets cqn be found in there too you have to pay €1-2 to use these I'm glad I've ticked this place off my list as the views were incredible and didn't disappoint just think €22 is a bit steep and more history could be displayed that's all I thought the gift shop prices were dear guess its to be expected in popular tourist locations like Hallstatt Would recommend but once you've seen it there's no need to come back...

Read moreThe Hallstatt Skywalk, also known as the “World Heritage Skywalk,” is a breathtaking panoramic viewpoint situated in the Austrian village of Hallstatt, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Perched 350 meters (approximately 1,150 feet) above the picturesque village and Lake Hallstatt, this viewing platform offers one of the most stunning vistas in the region, providing an unobstructed, bird’s-eye view of the surrounding Alpine landscape.
The Skywalk juts out from the historical Salzwelten Salt Mine on Salzberg Mountain, giving visitors the sensation of floating above the valley. From this vantage point, you can admire the serene, glacial lake, the charming rooftops of Hallstatt, and the towering Dachstein Mountains. The platform is triangular in shape, symbolizing a “fingertip” pointing towards the lake and horizon, making it a popular spot for photography and relaxation.
Visitors can reach the Skywalk via a scenic funicular ride from the town, or by hiking up the trail through the forested slopes. Beyond the Skywalk itself, the area is rich in history, with salt mining dating back over 7,000 years, which is also accessible through guided tours of the mine.
Whether visiting for the stunning views, historical interest, or the tranquil alpine atmosphere, the Hallstatt Skywalk is a must-see...
