Visited in the morning, no customer inside and 4 female staff were chit chatting happily with smile. Their face then immediately turned DARK by the time we stepped into their store. Obviously they were not willing to serve any of us (or perhaps this experience would exist on tourist only according to other reviews from what I could see).
They all stood still, crossed their arms, stared at us and of course stopped their chit chatting. I thought I went into a haunted house but forgot to say trick or treat. Their face were like... have you looked enough to our products? Just place your fxking order and give me your money and get! out!
We asked the 4 female staff whether we could dine-in. The answer was expected to be negative but unexpectedly short as one word: No!
We use the same attitude towards them and placed our order, paid the money they need. Surprisingly things went smooth.
I understood that people in Hallstatt have had enough upon excess tourist in their little town. Not all tourist are rude or unrespectful. We wanted to respect the culture in Austria / Hallstatt.
Suggestion to this bakery store:
Try attach a notice of TOURIST ARE NOT WELCOMED to avoid unnecessary stressfulness to the staff themselves or to the touritsts.
Don't try to think you can maintain a RUDE ATTITUDE + MONEY drops into your pocket automatically because this is a tourist spot. This is just way toooo selfish I would say.
If bakery staff you are waiting more money falls into pocket, please treat people as human. Not throwing the money ( I did not expeierience this but noticed it from other's review ) nor using any bad attitude towards...
Read moreTerrible, the very old lady that works there is the most rude person I met in whole Austria, the place looks very nice from outside, we passed through it before lunch and we were certain that we would have a coffe and the dessert there. So, we had lunch in a very close restaurant, and we were very excited to go back there. As soon as we got there, I asked to this old woman if they accepted credit card, because if so, I would buy some souveniers to my friends and family in Brazil, and she started to complain about I dont know what, I patiantly tried to understand her and asked again, and she spoke something in her language (just to remeber that this is a very very turistic place and maybe 70% or more of her costumers are foreigners ) and then she let me talking alone! I got so disappointed that I didnt even know what to say to her. My husband and I got away to that place without the dessert that we really wanted to have, with a terrible feeling... If she is not happy with her job, just leave it, do not talk to people like that... maybe, she forgets that we (costumers) are the ones resposible to keep her place working... it was sad, and I hope she does not put this feeling in someone else... the place cab be nice, the food can be good (but I really dont know as I did not have the opportunity to try) but if the staff are rude like that, the place does not deserve...
Read moreRude! We bought several pastries and went to find a place to sit down and eat them inside. After finishing them, I went to grab extra napkins and was screamed at, that the area inside where we’re eating was closed. She immediately kicked us out. There was no sign posted, only a barstool in the middle of a large entrance, so unless that’s an international sign for, “This area is closed!”, we were completely unaware. Even so, we were customers that just purchased their product and we were eating at their table. A simple, “Hey, we are not using this area for seating right now. Would you mind waiting until a spot opens up outside?”, would have been sufficient for us to move, but instead she thought it better to scream at us. I thought initially that our experience was unique, but after reading the reviews, it looks like that either the owner or their senior staff are consistently rude to their clientele. Do not go here to eat. There are plenty other bakeries in Hallstatt that will offer the same quality of product without...
