In Hallstatt which is a captive Community by a beautiful Lake there are a finite number of restaurants. Guests are held captive only by those choices. And there are some very unappetizing choices to be sure. You have to be diligent when choosing restaurants by a beautiful mountain tourist destination situated alongside of a beautiful Lake. Rule of thumb: restaurants with the best views and locations have the worst food. Halstead is no exception. Let's talk about breakfast: the Sea Cafe is an exception to the rule. The outside patio is literally on the lake with an absolute unobstructed gorgeous view. The Hausbrandt coffee is exceptional, roasted in Italy to their standards. Steaming method is also exceptional for the foam is better than I've ever had on any cappuccino-- and this was in a latte.
The eggs were as fresh as possible, I'm sure some chickens are very upset that they lost their prized possession. The grain bread is exceptional tasty and I wish we could get something like it in America. The last and not the least was the exceptional service. Our Waiters couldn't have been more competent and pleasant to talk with as they helped us with the menu and served us diligently. A well-run cafe A Cut Above breakfast cafes located. in...
Read moreIncredible view of Hallstatt but be prepared to wait during peak meal times and for groups larger then 2 to be split up. We arrived around 12:20pm on a Monday and were seated after about a 25 min wait. They have 10 tables on their terrace, most of which are for 2 people but a few can fit 3 people. Of those only 4 are right by the waterfront. Unfortunately, they didn't have a table for 3 available when we were at the front of the line. They had a table of 2 near the prime viewing spot and a table for 2 further back. Our group of 3 ended up splitting up and switching off seats so everyone got a chance at the prime viewing table.
We ordered a gosser marzen beer, rotwein gespritzt (red wine spritz), cafe latte, farmers pizza, pizza funghi, and pizza salami. Great ambiance dining by the waterfront with a view of Halstatt. While I don't think the food is anything to write home about, it is a good size portion at a reasonable price given the view. Their breakfast menu looked delicious, but unfortunately is only...
Read moreA gem in Hallstatt. Visited Seecafe Hallstatt for 2 meals while we were staying 2 nights at Lakeside Hotel (which is adjoining to this restaurant).
On both occasions we had Imi as our waiter. He is such a super friendly and attentive server and he made our experience so pleasurable.
In the morning, we enjoyed a 3 egg ham and cheese omelette and coffee. Both the coffee and omelettes were delicious and they were a great start to the day.
At the end of our day, we returned and Imi served us again. This time we enjoyed the house pizza and pasta bologna. Both dishes were well presented and so delicious. We commented that the food was very authentic to food we have eaten in Italy. The sauce on both the pizza and pasta was perfect. Having 2 beers each, the pasta and the pizza, our bill came to less than 37 euro.
In addition to delicious food, you are served by wonderful staff in a picturesque setting. The Seecafe is located at the edge of the village on a much quieter location and the views...
