Hallstatt Marktplatz, also known as Hallstatt Marketplace, is a charming and picturesque square located in the heart of the village of Hallstatt, Austria. The Hallstatt Marktplatz is a delightful and idyllic square that perfectly embodies the essence of this Alpine village. Surrounded by traditional Alpine-style buildings adorned with colorful facades, the square exudes a quaint and charming atmosphere that instantly captivates visitors. The Marktplatz serves as a central gathering place for locals and tourists alike. It offers a variety of amenities, including cozy cafes, restaurants, and shops selling local crafts and souvenirs. What makes the Hallstatt Marktplatz truly special is its location right by the shimmering Hallstätter See (Lake Hallstatt). This proximity allows for breathtaking views of the lake and the surrounding mountains, adding a scenic backdrop to the square. The combination of the stunning natural beauty and the traditional architecture creates a truly enchanting atmosphere. The Marktplatz is also a great starting point for further exploration of Hallstatt. From here, you can wander through the charming streets, discover hidden alleys, and admire the traditional houses adorned with flowers and intricate details. The square's central location makes it easy to access other notable attractions, such as the Hallstatt Bone House and the Hallstatt Museum. While the Hallstatt Marktplatz can get busy, especially during peak tourist seasons, it retains its charm and authentic feel. It's a great place to relax, people-watch, and soak up the unique ambiance of this picturesque village. Whether you're seeking a leisurely stroll, a tasty meal, or a place to rest and take in the beauty of Hallstatt, the Marktplatz offers a delightful experience for visitors of all ages. Overall, the Hallstatt Marktplatz is a must-visit

• The Holy Trinity Statue: Located at the center of the square, this baroque statue is a symbol of gratitude, originally erected as a protection from natural disasters. • Cafés and Shops: Around the square, you’ll find several small cafés, restaurants, and souvenir shops, offering a perfect place to relax, enjoy the local cuisine, and buy traditional Austrian goods. • Historic Buildings: Many of the surrounding houses are centuries old, with intricate woodwork and flower boxes adding to the quaint feel of the town. • Cultural Events: The square occasionally hosts local festivals and events, enhancing its lively atmosphere. Marktplatz is a must-see spot for visitors, providing a picture-perfect view of Hallstatt’s beauty and offering a serene place to enjoy the charm of the village. It’s also a popular location for photos due to the picturesque setting.

Witness the magic of the Salzkammergut Alpine region on this Hallstatt tour! Hallstatt is considered Austria's best-kept secret and the "Pearl of the Salzkammergut". One of the most beautiful lakeside towns in the world, this town is picturesque and surrounded by majestic mountains. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has a population of only about 850 people. On this tour, you'll experience all that the town has to offer. Explore the Old Town and stop to visit the village's unique Beinhaus (House of Bones), a collection of 1,200 decorated human skulls. Admire the view of Mühlbach Waterfall and on the way there observe the colorful Baroque houses scattered on the mountainside. You can also go up the cliff and go to the World Heritage Observation Deck for a photo! If you want truly unreal views, then this tour is for you.

The Marketplace in Hallstatt is one of those places that just takes your breath away. It feels like you’ve stepped into a storybook—the colorful old buildings, flower boxes on every balcony, and the mountains towering in the background all come together so perfectly. I spent a quiet afternoon here just wandering around, grabbing a coffee at a small café, and browsing a few local shops. Everyone was friendly, and there’s such a calm, peaceful vibe. It’s the kind of place where you want to sit down, slow down, and just take it all in. In the evening, the lights around the square made it feel even more magical. Honestly, if you’re visiting Hallstatt, make sure you give yourself time to really enjoy the marketplace. It’s the heart of the town—and it’s absolutely beautiful

If you wanna go inside of the shop you should scan your credit card as a key. You can buy something with credit cards contactless card option inside. Shop owners are very kind. But items prices are expensive. Souvenirs are expensive. For example famous Hallstatt Salz, I did not bought it from souvenir shop I bought it from Gschäft Markt. If you wanna advert your famous place you should sell souvenirs cheaper when you do that you are actually selling that tourists journeys story. That means tourist who will share souvenir as a gift also share how amazing this area and you are gonna get more customer, tourist. This will be the free marketing for you and your country. Anyway I love Hallstatt and of course Austria. I recommend visit this lovely country. 🇦🇹

Marktplatz is the center of Hallstatt and absolutely gorgeous all year round, in summer you get to see flowers hanging out of every balcony and the water tricking down, just as beautiful in winter, white sheet of snow, gentle breeze and beautiful evening birds songs. Take a walk to the lake view point but don't forget to stop at Evangelische Pfarrkirche church, the history of this church goes back to 1785, its worth going inside, its just as beautiful from inside as it is on the outside. The small stores at the Marktplatz sell very nice souvenir and some local merchandise. I recommend taking something with you from these stores just to support the locals, a nice way of saying thank you for the hospitality.
