My 4-night stay at the Ritz Carlton Vienna was splendid. A truly luxurious hotel.
The hotel is situated on the ring road in the inner city, one of the best locations in Vienna and a very convenient jumping point to visit the sights of the city. A taxi ride from the main train station will take less 10 minutes. The airport is 20 minutes away by taxi. ‘Stadtpark’ U-bahn station is a 5-minute walk from the hotel. The tram stop (Schwarzenbergplatz) is a block away.
The hotel exterior and interior are the definition of elegance.
Upon arrival, the staff will make you feel very welcome. A welcome drink was offered during check-in. The entire staff throughout my stay were nothing short of fantastic. 5-star service.
The breakfast offered at the ‘Dstrikt’ restaurant was excellent. The bar tenders at the ‘Dbar’ performed admirably and my selection of drinks was superb.
The spa facilities were very good. My treatment of choice was very relaxing and worth every penny. Sitting and relaxing by the pool was fun.
My ‘Deluxe’ room was, like the hotel, elegant and luxurious. The marble bathroom felt like having your own private spa.
The shower’s water flow was very good. The toiletries, by ‘Philosykos’, felt and smelled great.
The room safe was large enough to fit a 15” laptop.
There was plenty of closet space for my belongings.
The fridge was mostly dedicated to a pricey minibar. However, I did manage to insert a couple of the free water bottles I have received daily due to my Marriot Bonvoy status.
The bed was extremely comfortable. I’ve slept very well. The room insulation was very good as I did not hear any external/bothersome noises.
The Wi-Fi worked well. The selection of TV channels was plenty, including multiple channels in English. There was, however, an issue with the signal reception (freezing/digital artifacts).
The only spot where the hotel room showed its age (hotel opened in 2012) was with electrical outlets and switches. They looked/felt cheap, especially when compared to the other room features.
I would have liked to see built-in electrical sockets that cater to guests from other regions of the world that would have incompatible electrical plugs. At least have adaptors in every room for the guests to use.
Also, the toilet should be upgraded to a washlet. I have come across several Marriot Bonvoy brand hotels in Europe, of a ‘lower’ category, that included a toilet/washlet.
I found the hotel layout to be quite confusing. It felt like going through a maze to get from the hotel lobby to my room. The annoying part was not finding a way to be able to transport my luggage from my room to the hotel entrance without having to carry the luggage up/down a staircase. Sure, you can call the hotel desk to have someone transport the luggage for you but to me, it felt like a hotel design flaw.
Regardless of these minor flaws, my overall stay was great, and I would not hesitate in staying at the Ritz Carlton...
Read moreHigh expectations on this trip were met in spades by the team at the Ritz Carlton Vienna. As the city itself is so beautiful it’s actually one of those cities with a significant amount of luxury options to choose from. We chose the Ritz Carlton (I like Marriott and am an Ambassador) location was good and we didn’t have too much planned, so we thought to try the Club level. We were pleasantly surprised by what we got out of this RC. The Hard product itself was very nice, while the building is historic very old it is extremely well maintained with a somewhat modern touch in the common areas and the room (little things like automated blackouts and shades). |Check-in was a breeze as we were met very kindly by the front office manager Jasper who accompanied us up to the club lounge, and eventually took us all the way to our room explaining about the hotel, the history and much about the city as well.|The lounge itself was elegant. It had a living room like feel. Both the service and the food on the Club level were memorable. And even more than that, every single thing we had in the hotel from a food and beverage perspective was exceptional. ||Every day breakfast at the Club lounge was spectacular. They focused on quality over quantity, and you can notice it in everything from the homemade bread to the fresh squeezed orange juice. Each one of the simply prepared dishes was exception. If you go, make sure to try The Austrian pancakes. My only regret is that I discovered them more towards the end of our trip.|So many people were nice and helpful, it would be difficult to recognize them all but:|Laura and Paloma in the club made every day special and helped us with every single thing we needed, including reservations, Transportation and check out. Both very pleasant and very helpful.|Andreas the chef made our morning twice as he explained to us the processes that they go through to make their food so fresh and unique for their guests. It was a real pleasure talking to him and seeing the pride he takes in his art. ||Finally, Ned the GM stopping by to check in and share some of his story was a very nice and memorable touch.||From start to finish I’d say this team has it down. Hard product is solid, a quiet luxury with modern touches. The soft product is even better with the team who remembers your name. It makes you feel like you’re coming home to a special place every day.||Next time we’re in Vienna, we know where we’ll...
Read moreWe stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Vienna for five days at the beginning of April, in a room with Club access, and thoroughly enjoyed our time there--it is a great hotel! From check-in with a complimentary glass of Prosecco, to check out for an early morning flight after a pre-ordered breakfast in the Club, our stay was characterized by excellent service from all staff with whom we interacted. The hotel itself feels very welcoming and gracious, modern but with some historical touches from the glory days of the 19th-century palaces it inhabits (there is a beautifully preserved original interior staircase complete with marble columns and wide stone steps). Housekeeping was immaculate--and amazingly unobtrusive. Dinner in the Pastamara restaurant was a little slice of Italy, with wonderful food, engaging servers and welcoming atmosphere.
We totally enjoyed the Club facility at this hotel and I would not hesitate to recommend it; I overheard one of the staff welcoming an arriving guest who was asking how the Club worked, by explaining to the guest that they should "consider this their living room!" and that was exactly how it felt. It was a very relaxing place to start the day lingering over breakfast, eat a light lunch, enjoy an aperativo or end the day with a liqueur and chocolate truffles. The food was always very good and occasionally absolutely excellent (the chef on April 3rd created beautiful egg dishes for us). The premixed Negronis on the drinks buffet were a hit with my husband and I, and on the one occasion when the (self-serve) pitcher was not there, Club staff quickly offered to make them for us and served them to our table. (One does get spoiled VERY quickly here!) The Club combination of self-serve (drinks and food available buffet style, to pick up yourself) or service to your table, if you want that, is perfect--one can do a quick stop to refuel, or linger to relax, as one's time allows. Club staff were always available and able to answer questions and come up with good suggestions, whenever we needed information or assistance.
We found this hotel to be in a great location for everything we wanted to do as it is a quick walk to the Stephendom, to the Opera, to the main shopping streets, and to the royal palaces and museums. It is also very convenient to stations for the underground (U-bahn) transportation network, which was very easy to use; Schonbrunn Palace was a quick...
