The Ronacher is a smaller, yet beautiful theater in Vienna's first district. I went to a showing of Bodyguard and it was very well done. The show starts with a bang and is full of entertainment, from the dancing to the story to the singing, all the way to the end. The cast put on a great show, and although you can't see them, the orchestra is live. I think it's great that there is a highlight of the orchestra at the end of the performance.
This show (Bodyguard) was in German, although the songs were in English, and there was a translation into English on the sign boards above the stage. The translation wasn't always accurate, but overall it was understandable and good. It's not a show for kids, based on the content, some foul language, and some costumes that show off too much skin.
There is a Coat Check (Garderobe) available. There was an intermission during the performance. The seats are spacious, with plenty of leg room. On the main level (Parkett) the seats are tiered just enough make it easier to...
Read moreI’m giving the Falco performers— all of them— 6 stars. For as many times as they must perform this show I was very impressed by their talent, energy and enthusiasm.
The performers who played Falco, his “dark side”, his girlfriend/wife, and the blonde girl who I would describe as the lead dancer, were all particularly impressive.
The production value was also very good— however, the one distraction at times was the taped accompaniment music. At times, it felt like “less than” the very talented performers (and Falco) deserved, especially with a few of the abrupt cut-offs as opposed to fade-outs?
This show would be 10 stars if even some live music or instruments to complement the recorded music were possible, even if only on select songs?
With that said, I’m an American who was in high school when Rock me Amadeus was a hit and I thoroughly enjoyed the show (even though I don’t speak German) and feel a deeper connection and appreciation for Falco and his...
