We stayed for 5 Nights here. Unfortunately it was not good. But first lets start with positive things about this place:
comfortable bed ( the bed is on the hard side) free upgrade to a bigger room the room was bright and had a lot of windows + 2 balconies. We had a nice view from one of the balcony many Restaurants, ATM's, shops, markets near the hotel
negative: the hotel lays in a small corridor and the hotel sign was not really visible at first sight. With big heavy luggage what we had it is difficult to pass the corridor and even more difficult to carry them up to the steps to reach the hotel entrance
the hotel staff was neither friendly (except only one staff who was friendly and greeted us) nor interested in helping us with the luggage when we checked out ( we had 2 heavy luggage) They stood next to us and were not interested at all
housekeeping staff was the worst we ever experienced. We asked for toilet paper and extra bed sheets for the couch because it was dirty. We did not get anything what we asked for, they simply said no.
no toilet seat and we asked for one but they did not provide
the toilet and shower drain had a bad smell and under the hotel there is a duck Restaurant and the smell was all over the place if we opened the window (we were at the 8th floor)
we had a lot of ants in our room
dirty walls, sprinkles like from a party on many walls. should not be hard to clean that but it was never cleaned.
no breakfast although it is showed in agoda, booking.com etc. We understand if in these times the hotel restaurants are closed, it is not a problem IF they show it on the booking platforms. Now you pay different prices depending on having breakfast included or not
We would not recommend the hotel because of our personal experiences. We noticed the Botum Palace Hotel had another name or even owner in the past, because we looked at the google reviews and found pictures from guests and the hotel was named "THE MOLYAN HOTEL". All the good reviews could be from the past hotel. Otherwise we can not understand the good reviews.
All in all we are not satisfied with our stay at the Botum Palace Hotel.
We had hotels in cambodia for similar price which were way better than Botum Palace Hotel. No value...
Read moreThe staff and location were great. The room was clean and bed comfortable. The rest not so much. The view from our room was great.||Not so good: |- The safe ‘works’ however the code needs to be entered multiple times over a 10 minute interval. You never know if you will get your stuff out. When talking to the staff they said it worked so no issues. |- The hand held shower house has no hot water, only the rain head. |- The bathroom door latch was broken so the bathroom door rolls open. Don’t expect any privacy. |- The bathroom drain is very slow for a wet room |- Multiple power outages in the whole hotel during our stay, including the lift not working and luckily we weren’t on it during these times. |- the floor we were on had no light on the landing so as soon as you left the lift or the room everything was dark. |- Curtains don’t block the night light, very light room to sleep in|- Construction on the roof starting at 0630, can hear in the room very easily so you’re awake when the noise starts. |- Air conditioner is poor and likely needs replacing.|- Entrance down a poorly lit alley. ||This place has lots of things to work on to be a better more enticing place to stay, I wonder if the management has changed recently?||Also, all the reviews on Tripadvisor are fake and left by people reviewing the same 2x places over and over again, falsely inflating this hotels reviews. So watch out. ||As I said above, the staff were lovely and the location in the city was great. If you’ve booked lower your expectations, and if you plan to book maybe look...
Read moreStayed here for a few nights with the family while in Phnom Penh. Large, bright rooms with plenty of windows and a balcony, a large bed, kitchenette, and a very small bathroom/shower/vanity. They provide plenty of toiletries in the bathroom. Staff was pleasant and helpful and knew a good amount of English- they didn't speak it very well and became confused when we switched subjects. They booked our tour to S21 and the Killing Fields. The breakfast was good and made to order. They provided plenty of coffee, tea, juice and milk. Also provided was a buffet of fresh fruit, breads, yogurt, bacon, ham, and porridge. The hotel was a little dark but it was welcoming. There was an attempt to make it welcoming due to the fact it is located down a narrow alley. Very close to plenty of restaurants and the national museum and palace. There was only one nightstand and outlet on one side of the bed. The shower did not...
