Overall I'm pretty disappointed as well as going into irked territory. There is loud music most nights from at least 2 different sources with heavy bass. But, apparently smoking in your room is alright as I'd had to move rooms for my neighbor smoking. I have a severe cigarette smoke allergy and was relocated to the room below. What gets me is that that wasn't the immediate solution. From what I understood from the front desk when I went to complain, they were simply going to ask the man to stop smoking. That doesn't help me. The smoke is already permeated in my room. My face is swollen, my sinuses are swollen and draining, my throat is itching.... So I went back upstairs and was on the phone with Expedia when they called and said they were going to give me a different room. Fine. It was an equal trade, basically got the same room a floor down. Which was great when I was leaving as I only had to carry my 24kg suitcase down 1 flight of steps. You should also be aware that if you are using them to arrange transport to and from the hotel, it's firstly $40, but secondly they didn't organize my return to the airport despite the fact that I DID speak to reception the day before and was like hey, my ride is coming tomorrow right? She asked me if I wanted to book a car. I mean....it should already be booked....? I arranged for this months in advance via writing on messenger on Expedia, I understand confirming the day before but I'm not asking you to reinvent the wheel. So I say yes, and she looks at me awkwardly and says okay....and then doesn't do anything else. And I'm all good? I have a ride? She doesn't really answer. This morning comes and no, I don't have a ride. Shocker... Which frankly was to my benefit as the Grab I hired was cheaper.
The rooms themselves I really have no complaints about, the ceilings are high which I like, probably lessens the sound of my upstairs neighbors, but a rug would be beneficial as well....especially the hallways, where people forget that sound carries when they holler down the staircase. I had no issues with the amenities, the bathroom, or the bed. There was a pharmacy conveniently located a short walk away, which was great as I had to go looking for Benadryl as the day after the cigarette issue, my eyelids swelled up. It is a great location for access to dining and drinking locations and Pub Street. Just the things mentioned above are my only issues, otherwise its a nice hotel. And while I understand they can't control the other hotels being loud, it does unfortunately affect their guests. I carry Loop earplugs with me so I was ultimately able to sleep fine, but man...in the mornings too, there's some loudspeaker with chanting or yelling or something....not every day though. Never discovered what that was.
Anyway, with all the inconvenience, including having to repack and move my suitcase and backpacks with 2 months worth of stuff in the middle of the morning that I, thankfully, didn't have a tour on while coughing aggressively and being unable to breathe out of my nose, really made this hotel feel like I overpaid for my 9 nights for that alone. I had a similar incident once before in The Dalles, Oregon, USA, and the hotel immediately moved me and addressed the situation and offered me a free glass of wine in their restaurant, which yeah, I was still inconvenienced no doubt, but it felt a little bit more genuine of an apology/concern. Idk, everyone is nice enough, but it was like being in a place that looked upscale but was budget...
Read moreA beautiful hotel in close proximity to Pub Street. It’s conveniently located with numerous shops, restaurants and street food vendors all within walking distance by the river. My room was nice and I had a balcony overlooking the street. The bed and pillows were very soft, comfortable and so lux. Even though there is no elevator and the bars across the street played music until whenever time, I was still able to get some much needed rest but others might find it quite bothersome. Their restaurant is very convenient downstairs for a quick bite or Khmer coffee and they offer daily breakfast that includes a variety that range from Western food to delicious local Khmer dishes. I had an early sunrise tour one day and they even packaged it for me for take away at 4 am. All of the hotel staff are very accommodating with warm, generous and kind smiles left an everlasting impression on me. There was a small outdoor pool that I did not get to enjoy while I was there but it did look very inviting. The hotel does not offer laundry service but there were plenty of locals within the block offering their services and it was very affordable. I had a very memorable time staying here in Siem Reap and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for an affordable accommodation that will satisfy your requirements. I felt quite happy and safe staying here. I will definitely return...
Read moreExcellent & convenient location to the famous pub street in Siem Reap, only a few minutes walk away. Laundry service shop just few buildings away, US$1/kg for 8 hours service which is so handy. We booked the family room which is spacious and bed is comfortable. Lighting is a bit too dim everywhere in the room. Not sure how much effort is put into cleaning but the shower (slimy mouldy corners), bathtub (with stains), Venetian blinds (super dusty) could do with more cleaning. Feel like shampoo is exactly the same liquid as shower gel, just filled into separate bottles which is very drying on the skin and hair. If you are conscious about your hair and skin, better to get your own. Beware the glass shelving in bathroom has sharp corners, almost cut my scalp after getting up from trying to pick up things that fell in the corner. Toilet tissue is awkwardly fixated in the toilet, makes it very difficult to get it while sitting on the toilet seat. Although they do replace most of the amenities in the room, we’ve had to ask for new soap block which was not replaced at all (no other handwash provided) Our room had a balcony but it only had one chair and views of the alley between the adjacent building so was pointless having a balcony unless if you are a smoker. Hotel has no lift and no staff came to offer assistance to bring up...
