I am someone who tries to only write positive reviews, but this one crossed the line. After my boyfriend and I booked our trip to Banff over a month ago for next week, I sent an email today to find out if payment would be taken via credit card or cash. I was shocked to receive an email back stating that we did not get entered into the main reservation system and that the cabin is already booked. Apparently someone else was taking care of the place while the owner was away and now she "doesn't know what happened". I realize we are all human, but I am extremely disappointed at the lack of competency and professionalism to properly secure our booking. My boyfriend has family coming from Mexico and now we can't even take them to the mountains if we can't find a place to stay. I wouldn't have even known we weren't booked in if I hadn't sent the email to confirm. I see that this place has generally positive reviews and sincerely wish we had gotten the chance to stay, but after a mix-up like this we will not be attempting to stay again and we will be warning others to avoid it as well if they don't want their travel plans...
Read moreMy partner and i were travelling around Canada last year, and struggling to find a place to stay in Banff (It was quite last minute). She got the number for Hillside Bungalows and gave them a call, and fortunately for us they had a vacancy for a few nights.||||To start off we arrived late (talking 10pm+), they were lovely enough to leave us a message on the chalk board outside, with details to the wifi also!||The rooms themselves were what i expected from a log cabin at that cost per night, sure the bed creaked a little and it could have done with some maintenance, but those quirks are why we loved it. It wasn't just another clinically clean hotel room. The barbecue outside got a great deal of use also!||The location was only a brief walk from the center of Banff, and one road off the main road, so you don't have to deal with traffic noise.||||We will definitely stay there again if were back...
Read moreChrissy and Yuri run the coolest little spot in Banff! In a town that has burgeoned into a tourist hotbed, one would never think such a quaint time capsule would still exist, especially so close to the main drag!
For a very fair price, I rented a standalone cabin/bungalow that included toasty warm heating (when it was -20 outside), a rustic A-frame cabin design, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Everything inside felt like a timeless ski chalet and had far more amenities that a standard hotel room (for a great price!)
The cherry on top is that they allow pets in the bungalows so long as they don't shed on the furniture. This is truly a gem for the rustic traveler and I can only express gratitude for the opportunity to stay at such...
