We just checked in 15 minutes ago, seen there was a restaurant. We stood at the "wait to be seated" sign for around 10-15 minutes. This was at the upper bar part. There was about 3 tables open. Plus the he restaurant has tons of seating. Since the bartender there hasn't said a word to us, we figured seating ours lives wouldn't be an issue. Finally we sit down and see a woman who is more dressed up, she much have finally decided to show up to that area. Keep in mind, no one was behind us at all. Basically now we are being ignored by staff. We see the other tables get filled up and they get helped. We told the lady we had not been helped (She was the manager) She says "that's because you didn't wait to be seated. We had someone waiting behind you. (This is a straight up lie). This was the most immature thing I've ever seen happen. This woman clearly has a power trip going on. They refused to serve us. What a way to treat a hotel guest. We tried to tell the front desk person, he did not care. With in 20 minutes we decided that this will be the last time we ever book at this hotel. Now we not only feel uncomfortable but now cannot dine at the hotels own restaurant. The most unprofessional thing Ive ever seen. They weren't even close to full. You think they wouldn't want to drive away customer. Will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. We walked to the hotel next to us and went to the "farm and fire". It was much busier but they seated us immediately. Staff extremely respectful. That manager at the meatball needs to lose her ego and put the businesses best...

I don’t think I have ever left a review before but our experience was so bad that I feel like I NEED to make this. We arrived shortly after we checked into the Ptarmigan Inn after a long day of driving and were hoping for an easy post-trip meal. When we got there we noticed folks around us in a bit of a sour mood and the vibes felt kind of strange. The server took forever to come grab our drink order and I let her know we were ready to also place our food order whenever she was. She came back quickly and wrote down our order. An hour passed and no one checked on us, our food didn’t arrive, all the while tens of tables who arrived up to half our after us received their food and were eating. My partner was annoyed so went up and asked for the bill and if it was possible for us to just pay for our drinks and leave since we had places to be and it was taking too long. They said sure and that they were sorry for the inconvenience. Another 15 mins went by and no one brought us our bill. We finally went to get up to leave out of frustration (and find another place to actually eat at since we had a hungry 5 year old in tow) and that caught their attention. When we went to pay for our drinks the server was talking to us like nothing had occurred and that they didn’t just waste over an hour of our time. Horrible vibes and service, the hotel should consider a change in host restaurant if possible. Considering the other bad reviews, it seems this isn’t the first time a scenario like ours...

Absolute garbage service. Mediocre food at best. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone...ever. The server was miserable and had zero etiquitte. This included having guests take their drinks off the servers tray while holding it (spill hazard), serving extremely hot plates to guests hands without warning, not knowing where food/drinks went (the server took orders and still didnt know where it was going) and made us write out what we ordered on papers and pass out our own bills. As someone who works in the industry, I couldn't face palm any harder. All the food and drinks made it to the table, but apparently in the worst way possible.

As for the food, it was... okay. The meatballs were indeed great, the rest of the pasta was very basic, bland, with no cohesive flavours or textures. The pasta was obviously a cheap pasta, as I've had better pasta from a box. The pizza was so-so. The crust was homemade, but for that reason, it lacked the restaurant quality taste you would expect to find for a $20 pizza. The sauce and toppings were good however, and the drinks were decent!

Obviously this is not a fine dining establishment, but could be a decent place for families or people wanting drinks on the patio.

I won't be going back-- if your looking for good place to get food in Banff, dont bother either. Very...

I tried the spaghetti and meatballs pasta and the lamb pesto pasta. The spaghetti and meatball sauce was pretty good—flavorful and had a lot of different ingredients. The meatballs were oddly hard and chewy and lacked salt and seasoning. The lamb pesto pasta was not good. I could hardly taste the pesto and overall lacked flavor. I was hoping for a fresh, strong pesto but the sauce tasted like milk. The lamb pieces were ok—I personally didn’t really thinking went well with the pasta. Wish they cooked it differently or something. The service was also quite slow but the waiter was super nice. Kind of pricey for what it is.

Big shout out to our server Chris K! Top shelf service. He made this dining experience phenomenal! Super friendly, very attentive, and definitely knows how to make his customers feel special and important. Was planning on ordering just a simple traditional breakfast, but ended up enjoying the breakfast buffet instead. Great food, great atmosphere, just wish I had more time to try their specialty...pasta. I will be back and encourage you to check this place out! And to the managment team, give Chris K a ton of praise, he's the type of waiter every restaurant would love to have, you are lucky to have him.

Dated restaurant (feels like nobody touched its decor from the 80s, chafed, cracked paint, dirty carpet), dirty (months old dust on the shelves and counters), bad staff (ordered a Pepsi for my kid and got a completely flat glass of brown liquid, asked to replace it with chocolate milk and got a glass covered with sticky chocolate syrup on the outside, they are just bad at what they do). Overpriced breakfast (diner-level food for $16 a plate). Do not recommend this place to anyone.
