Seriously consider reading this review if you’re thinking of staying here, as I would NOT recommend it at all.
I had a booking for August 11th, and actually had high hopes with staying here since it’s so close to the falls and very cheap. I pull up directions to the place, and first off, they have no sign anywhere indicating they are Edgecliff, they seem to be under a different name or make it extremely difficult to find their sign. Oh well, not a big deal.
Driving up to this place feels very unsafe and run down. A lot of the rooms doors were open (come to find out the AC isn’t great), and it seems as if they are occupied by people who live there full-time. They have no office to officially book into, and the staff have no uniforms to indicate they work there. I walked up to what seemed like an office (closed off, lights off, hand-written sign on the door) and a man asked if I was staying there and asked for my ID. Again, no indication he works there. We get our key and he leads us to our room.
They got our booking incorrect and the room only had 1 bed when I paid for 2 (I was so scared and didn’t realize at first as I was just taking in my surroundings). It’s one big concrete and unwelcoming room. When you walk in it smells moist and had a lingering smell that I didn’t want to find out what it was. The AC is located in the bathroom and does not work very well as the room felt humid and a bit warm. I checked the bed for bed bugs, as I do this at every hotel, and I found one (picture attached). Not only that, but the bedsheets were yellow.
I was so shocked and didn’t know what to do. I was trying to reason with myself and thought maybe it’s nothing and took a picture. I went up to the lady who worked there and I corrected her that I asked for 2 beds, not 1. I was trying to process the bed bugs, and she promptly gave me my correct booking.
The second room was not any better. The mattresses did not even have matching sheets like they advertise online and they seem to be different mattresses as well since they were different heights. This is when I decided to look at the picture on my phone and compare it to what a bed bug looks like online. It was a young one.
I immediately booked another hotel away from here and alerted the staff of what I found in the room. They asked me to show them, and I did. The First Lady tried saying it was dirt and flicked it away so the owner couldn’t see. The owner went up and couldn’t find it since the other lady flung it away to hide it. But they were very apologetic and assured me I would get a refund in 5 days, I had a witness there with me who heard the owner say this. The owner said she was very sorry for the situation and that I will get my refund.
A week later, today, I call back to ask about the refund since I never received it. First off, she would not let me speak. She kept getting defensive and cutting me off so I couldn’t explain anything. She said I was lying, that she never said she would give me a refund since I didn’t give a 24 hour cancellation notice. I replied by saying I would have cancelled 24 hours ahead of time if I knew they had bed bugs. She proceeded to tell me they don’t have any and I must have brought them with me. I did not even put my bags on the beds once, I did not sit on the beds, I was there for less than 5 minutes when I found it and she tried blaming me for them. I am in the middle of disputing the money as she refuses to refund me now after she assured me she would on the day of.
Additionally, I have video proof of my geotag to PROVE it was her hotel that I took the photos in and she has been lying to Expedia, saying I never checked in, lying saying I never was there, lying saying she wouldn’t refund me. She is a scammer who will take your money, and does not feel any remorse for doing so. She comments saying I’m lying, but what exactly am I lying about? Everything I have included has been proven true.

Read moreI live here now and believe me it's filthy half the rooms have no decent floors plumbing is always backed up wires hanging out of the walls. No heat in winter. Sinks over flow toilets are broken. There is mold on walls staff covers it with paint, back wall leaks half the rooms have no bathroom ceiling. There are bed bugs in some rooms, cockroaches bad. Landlord takes your money but put nothing back in for repairs.. she won't fix tenants problems. She won't even answer phone to us. Like we're a nobody. Staff are mean . I live here right now take it from me it's terrible the way owner makes you live. And she ups the rent anytime she feels like it. And watch she will charge you for hydro. She is just money hungry and don't care about her tenants. She let's the staff have there dog pen over here and when they in it the dogs bark all the time no relaxing at this motel. The day prior, the host had quickly welcomed us and flagged Tom Cruz was filming at their property.
In that same correspondence, we notified the inn that we would be coming late in the evening and asked if there were specific check-in instructions. We received no response.
We arrive late in the evening and we could not check-in. The other reviews are accurate, the area is littered, the building and surrounding area is in need of repair, and overall the place feels unsafe and sketchy. The property has a history of trying to contest negative reviews and speaking unprofessionally to anyone who provides feedback by trying to discredit them (see reviews below).
We called all 4 numbers posted on the door - no response. I had to call booking platform for support - they stated they tried to connect with her and received no response so the platform cancelled our stay. Unfortunately, this was late in the night and we scrambled for a last-minute reservation at another inn.
Despite the uncomfortable experience I did enjoy...
