VIA Rail Canada Station — Local services in Niagara Falls

So, here's the deal... with very few arrivals/departures, it's no wonder that this sub-standard station only opens 20 minutes before any trains arrive and closes 20 minutes after they depart.

Hints: Downtown Niagara Falls, where the station is located, is a bit sketchy (abandoned buildings, dirty parking lots, etc.) The station platform is not shielded from the weather, but there is an enclosure over where bikes can be stored if it's raining. Since the station is closed much of the time, if you need the washroom there is one across the street at the bus station (which is also a bit sketchy but when you gotta go, you gotta go.) If you're taking Amtrak to the US, usually a 1015am departure, a good way to get to the station is to use your WeGo bus pass and take the Green Line to the Via Rail Canada/GO bus station (aka the Amtrak station). If going to the USA, you're going to get on at this station, cross the Railroad bridge, and 3 minutes later get back off to go through customs/immigration on the US side of Niagara Falls. You're going to be there for about an hour. There are a few vending machines and a decent seating area there. Your luggage will be scanned, and a dog will help find anything illegal (fruits, meats, etc...) Don't take chances, or you might end up detained... never...

Shame on Niagara Falls city council. Via rail Niagara along with Niagara Transit missing the mark terrible facilities customer service needs improvement no lockers for travellers. It opens only 30 minutes before the train departure time. Therefore, if you arrive early, you have no other options than staying outside. After train departure, it closes in 30 minutes.
