I have been a Marriott Rewards member for decades, and the Santiago Marriott Hotel on Avenida Presidente Kennedy in Las Condes is, without question, the best-run Marriott I have ever experienced.||From the moment I arrived after an overnight flight from the United States, the service was exceptional. Although my room was not yet ready, the reception team welcomed me warmly and invited me to relax in the concierge lounge instead of asking me to return at the standard check-in time. A bellhop guided me to a private conference room so I could remove a few items from my luggage before storage, then personally escorted me to the spa’s restrooms, which were far nicer than the public ones. When I returned, he had an elevator waiting.||The concierge lounge was spacious, with a stunning view of the Andes Mountains. Juan Sanchez, the lounge attendant, greeted me with genuine warmth, spoke excellent English, and took a real interest in my plans. I mentioned my fiancée would arrive the next morning, and he looked forward to meeting her. After a few hours in the lounge, my room was ready three hours early, and my luggage had already been delivered.||My 12th-floor room faced the Andes and foothills, offering one of the best views I have ever had at a Marriott. It was spotless, the bed was extremely comfortable, and when my fiancée arrived, her check-in was quick and seamless thanks to the front desk’s preparation.||Throughout our two-week stay, housekeeping impressed us daily. They arrived early, returned in the afternoon if we were still in the room, and left cheerful notes of appreciation. Breakfast at Café Med was delicious with many choices, but we often enjoyed the quieter continental breakfast in the lounge. The Akun lobby bar and restaurant were lively, with excellent food and cocktails, and their veggie burger ranks among my top five anywhere. Room service was prompt, courteous, and delivered by staff in polished, professional uniforms.||Midway through our trip, we tried Wine O’Clock in the lounge. The spread was generous, with a wide selection of wines and beer available on request. We enjoyed it so much that we returned almost every night thereafter.||The hotel also offered a well-stocked gift shop and a convenient coffee bar. Just outside of the property, around the corner, a small mini-mart called “Get It Now” became our go-to for snacks, drinks, and hot finger foods on the go.||The location was another highlight. The Parque Arauco Mall, with indoor and outdoor shopping and dining, was only a ten-minute walk away and home to the nearest Starbucks, though the espresso was stronger than in the U.S. We visited almost daily. The upscale Alto Las Condes Mall was a short Uber or taxi ride away, and behind the hotel was a charming park with carnival attractions and winter ice skating.||By the end of our stay, we had formed a genuine friendship with Juan. On our departure day, he arranged to be notified so he could personally say goodbye, a gesture that perfectly captured the Santiago Marriott’s spirit of caring excellence.||Our two weeks in Santiago were magical, and this hotel was a major part of that magic. I travel 300 days a year & right now im a Titanium Marriott member...in 10 days I will be a Ambassador member....Marriott's Highest award....and I can honestly say this the the WORST MARRIOTT IN THE WORLD.
The property is literally falling apart. The couches in the lobby have torn leather chairs, teathered fabric, wouldn't even look good n a 2nd hand store. The chambre's are CENTURY OLD & NOT in a good way. Old bulky furniture, the bed moved if you turned over & smelled of old musky dew.
The personnel are EXTREMELY rude, unprofressional, inattentive and management is no where to be found.
Although my Partner's name was on the reservation & the chambre was FULLY paid for via credit card, the reception personnel REFUSED to let him checkin and told him to leave. When I contacted management, I was informed a mistake occurred & would be sorted out...so I sent my partner back to the hotel with a Point-of-Contact name. This time, the reception personnel REFUSED to contact the manager who, specificially provided her name, and again told my partner to leave the property. Of course, I told my partner to stay directly where he was & I got the manager on the line again. I informed her of the employees unprofessional behavior & requested SHE personally go to reception to resolve the issue.
That should heve been my WARNING sign to leave this property...however, things only became WORSE over the next few days as,I learned of the unprofessionalism at all levels of this property. From housekeeping to food service to the bar.
After such a HORRIBLE experience at a MARRIOTT property.......the actual BRAND hotel of this company, I went across the street to the Courtyard hotel.
The Courtyard hotel is like a New born chick compared to an OLD HEN (Marriott Santiago, Chile) hotel.
I've been all over the world & I know the Marriott standard just as well as most Marriott employees. Marriott should do itself a FAVOR and REMOVE it's name from this property.
Absolutely...
