HOSTEL UNION — Hotel in Providencia

I asked for a room spontaneously. When I got here, it seemed to be the first day working at the hostel for the woman at the reception desk. She didn't know anything and had to keep calling somebody to the point that I felt really bad for her. (First she sent me to a room with undone beds, then she gave me a key to a locker instead of the room and I didn't even dare to ask about wifi.)|| Except for seeing two guys once I didn't see any other guests in the entire hostel. ||In the morning the "real" receptionist didn't comment on me not being really checking in and he kept wandering off to clean and wasn't at all interested that I am there which kind of made me feel unwelcomed. Especially after reading all the other reviews I was really surprised about that.||The room was nice though, the hostel is close to the Metro Manuel Montt and bathrooms were nice a well. I stayed at this hostel for an extended time while in Santiago. The service was personal, beds/ rooms extremely comfortable and overall a great experience. This is not a party hostel but they do throw events for holidays and has a very friendly environment which is great for getting to know other people at the hostel. It is around 5 blocks from the metro which is great to access the rest of the city. The neighborhood is extremely safe and the house gives you a feeling of staying at a friend's place instead of a hostel. I highly recommend Makus and will go back whenever I stay in Santiago. The owner was very nice and welcoming despite his limited English he went out of his way to ensure we well informed. The room however was not what we expected considering what we had paid for a double room. It was very small compared to others we've stayed at and we booked based on their airport transport service however this turned into a long-winded process and our 7am pick up could not be confirmed for several hours and having to ask several times. May well have been easier to order a taxi ourselves. Overall not a bad place but not a...
