Just got out of the taxi to enter the hotel, paid the tax driver and got my other luggage, when my back pack with all the souvenirs I have bought from my other trips to Brazil and Argentina was stolen... My other two friends and I rented a triple unit on the fourth floor which was extremely small, no elevator, shower didn't work and just like DaniLira in her review said, were fooled by the "nice" smiles of Ana Maria the maid and Maria Elena the hostess. That night my friends and I went out around 8pm and I came back feeling sick around 11pm. We decided to move to El Castillo hotel a block away (same owner...). In the morning my friends and I decided to go exchange our currency (dollars) for pesos and I found out someone at the other hotel had opened up my suitcase, found my wallet and tole all my money (around ($200 dollars), they also stole a gold ring from my other friend's suitcase! They did this right after we left the hotel, that means, someone saw we left, gave the go to the other burglar and did their "operation" right away! I decided to go to the police instead of complaining at the hotel. The police filed a report but were not able to solve the issue, they talked to the owner who said "he was not responsible", after the police pressed on him, he said he was going to talk to us since we were going to stay at his other hotel. But he never did... I wish I would have read these reviews here before staying at Monteverde hotel... By the way that other hotel El castillo sucks big time too, not only because it is the same owner, but because the installations are in deploring conditions. The day after we stayed there, they had us move us to another room because the bathroom tile was falling apart, I heard another host complaining about the same issue as well. God knows how many people did not complain or noticed something lost or stolen from this places! Please do not support this nests...
Read moreI went to Chile in winter by choice, and stayed there a week in mid July 2014 with the purpose of snow activities. ||So, I do like cold wheather... but not in my shower.||Coming back from a fantastic white day in Farellones, sweaty, very tired & craving for a bath discovered that it would not be possible.||At first they said that someone had forgotten to turn on the water heater and asked me to wait for an hour. So I did. After that I had the intention to go for a dinner in Patio BellaVista, but I was craving for a bath that never happened. After many excuses they said that it would be possible only in the morning. So we slept dirty sweaty and hungry.||In the morning ? Cold, very colfd water and many different excuses... what I did? left the hotel and went to another much better and more professional (without shower) .||Another question: they say it is included breakfast. It is a tray with coffe powder, tea powder, a juice in a box and a cold sandwich. You have to take the hot (?) water from the tap to make your coffee... I realy do not recommend this place, even being well located in Barrio Bella Vista. I have been in Chile 5 times but for sure would never go to this Hotel again. In time: this is not a Cheap Hotel ! Afterwards I found a much better hotel for a similar price.||The wi-fi in the room is one of the slowest one that I have ever used but in Chile usually it is available fast internet so easily everywhere. In Metro for example it is fast and for free.||Another point : it is really a noise place. It doesnt bother me at all because I can sleep so easily but my friend with me in this trip had problems...
Read moreI tried to book a room thru the booking form they have on their website and after filling it in (including my credit card info) there was a message saying that they would contact me to confirm my reservation. Almost one week later as I did not hear from them I decided to call the hotel. The lady who attended the phone did not speak English and I tried to keep a conversation half in Portuguese, half in Spanish. It turned out that she could not find my reservation and sounded surprised when I told her I had done it thru their website (???). I even checked if I had called the right place, checked the address and hotel's name and yes, I had called the right place. ||Even though they had no record of my previous reservation, the lady said they had rooms available for the 3 nights I was planning to spend there. She said it was all right, I had a reservation now.||For my disappointment, when I got there 3 days later at 3:00 am, the front desk lady (whose voice was the same from the person I talked over the phone) checked her papers - yes, she checked a huge book, not the computer - and said there was no reservation for us!!!||We were tired and it was the middle of the night, so she arranged the only room available for us to stay until 12:00. The room was in the 3rd floor, there was no elevator and nobody to help us to carry the luggage. The room smelled like cigarrettes and it was really noisy. There are lots of pubs in that street and many universities around... really noisy place and terrible experience. Next day I moved to Nippon in the same neighbourhood and...
