My experience with this NH hotel was very disappointing. I have stayed in approximately 12 different NH Hotels in Latin America and Europe, and I can absolutely claim that NH Ciudad de Santiago is the worst among them.|Starting my review, I would like to mention the good hotel location, which is kind of in between Santiago Historic Center and a nice modern area called El Golf. I felt like the area around the hotel was safe to walk, but still, be careful and always aware of thieves, especially if you are going toward the Historic Center. Nowadays, there is a very high rate of phone theft in Santiago!|The hotel’s building seemed old from the outside and definitely needs a facelift. The hotel lobby looked nice and ideally clean. It was probably the most updated and best-designed part of the hotel. I was kind of disappointed with the front desk staff. Nobody was friendly; every single person had an “I do not really care” attitude, and what’s even worse, nobody could really speak English. Just a couple of front desk workers knew some English, so I had to use Google Translate to communicate with them. |A few days before arrival, I called and made a request for a room on a high floor with a lot of daylight and an open city view, but I got the complete opposite. My room was on the 4th floor, facing another tall building right across, resulting in very little daylight. Moreover, I could clearly see people across in their apartments, and I assumed they could see me too, so I had to keep the curtains closed almost all the time. Right after I got my room (#407), I called the front desk and asked for another option, but with an “I do not care” attitude, a guy told me that they had no other rooms available, which was absolutely a lie. During my 4-day stay, the hotel was pretty empty and quiet, never busy with people. At first glance, when I entered my Suite, it seemed good-looking. There was definitely a lot of space, and big windows were a plus. The room was very clean; the housekeeper did a great job with cleaning. But as I started noticing the details, I felt more and more disappointed. The walls had a lot of dirty marks, all the furniture had scratches, the sofa in the living room was obviously old, sticky, and uncomfortable to sit on, and the TVs in the living room and the bedroom were small and outdated. Luckily, the two Twin beds in the bedroom were comfortable. The bathroom was a disaster! It looked so old and nasty! The sink and the bathtub had some yellow spots, the bathtub was missing a cap to hold the water if I wanted to take a bath, and the shower did not work well. The water pressure was inconsistent, and the water went hot all the time, so I had to play with the controls to get the temperature to warm. The toilet had water pressure issues too. Flushing did not work well, so I had to flush 2-3 times to make it clean. DISASTER! Moreover, the bathroom amenities were of very cheap quality and smelled terrible. There was no toilet brush, and the hairdryer was obviously old, kind of sticky, and did not work well. My final statement about room #407 is that IT NEEDS TO BE RENOVATED COMPLETELY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Oh, and the Wi-Fi did not work well; the speed was always slow.|Next, I would like to mention the breakfasts. The food was always not really tasty, plus the selection was very limited. Another fail here.|As a result of the very poor quality of everything, I was not satisfied with the rate I paid per night (originally, when I made the reservation, it seemed great, by the way). My room’s rate was $90 per night, and it is like twice overpriced for a Latin American country where it is possible to find very nice, updated, modern 4 or 5-star hotels with wonderful service and great room quality for like $50-60 per night.|To conclude my review, I want to advise NOT TO STAY at this NH Hotel if you are looking to stay in comfortable conditions. If you do not really care about specific moments and details, maybe this NH will...

I made a reservation to stay at the NH Ciudad de Santiago about 2 months in advance of travel. When I arrived in Santiago and reached the hotel after a long day of international travel, I was told at reception that the hotel had mistakenly oversold its rooms, and that they wouldn’t honor my reservation. They offered instead to move me to a different NH hotel on the opposite side of the city. I had specifically selected their hotel based on its location and proximity to a packed week of business meetings. Staying at the other NH hotel would have made it impossible to fulfill my work agenda, due to traffic and transportation times.

In that moment—stressed, exhausted and in some physical pain due to back issues-- I was forced to use my cell phone to find an alternative hotel, in order to stay in the same sector and be able to do the work that brought me to Santiago. I was EXTREMELY lucky to find a different hotel that accepted last minute bookings, without going way beyond budget. The only assistance that the NH offered was access to their Wi-Fi, and transport to the new hotel. They neither recognized how their mistake had negatively impacted me, nor did they offer compensation or any other type of support.

The worst part of this, from my perspective, was that they waited until I arrived at the hotel to advise me of the situation. If they had given even 24 hours’ notice, I could have more calmly researched alternatives and made proper arrangements. This displayed not only a lack of organization, but a lack of consideration for their guests. They could have easily lessened the negative impact of their mistake on their guest-- they chose not to.

I will NEVER stay in a NH Hotel again, nor would I recommend that you consider one. How will I know that this wont happen again? The essence of the hotel business is that you make a guaranteed reservation and have a hotel room waiting for you upon arrival. If they cant deliver this most basic of services, I wont be going back...

First time in Chile. Highly recommend this hotel. Admittedly my Spanish isn't great despite two months practice, but I did try. The staff were more than helpful and did give me information in English, where needed. But if you're coming from England or the US, please do learn basic Spanish. As for the rest of the hotel, the room was big, immaculate and well presented. I had a view of the Andes, which was incredible. And if you didn't use housekeeping on a daily basis, I was offered a free drink. Awesome! Didn't try the food or breakfast. But the restaurant looked very classy. Perfect location. Very close to Salvador metro station. Clean and safe area of Providencia. Walking distance to supermarkets and McDonald's in Parque Busquemante. Couple of bars close by. Absolute perfect first hotel for my first holiday in Chile, from England. When I return to Chile, I more than likely would book here again.

This was a great hotel. The staff was amazing, the rooms were a great value for the money. It was the cleanest nh branded hotel i have ever stayed in. The location was great for our two day trip. The bed was a comfortable, and the showers and hot water were almost instant. My father in law liked the breakfast very much. But i want to thank the whole staff for an amazing visit, the front end manager pablo, went above and beyond to make our stay. All of the rest of the staff was exellent in thier recomandations for food, directions, and all the other random questions, and they all did it with a smile. This was by far the best nh hotel i have stayed at in the world!
